Pakistan: Suspected London Plane Terrorists Have Al Qaeda Connection

LONDON — Police arrested 40 people in cities throughout Italy in raids on Muslim gathering places in a security crackdown after Britain thwarted an alleged terror plot, the Interior Ministry said Friday, as Pakistani intelligence agents claimed there was an connection with ties to to the group of suspected terrorists arrested Thursday.

The arrests in Italy were made Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples and other cities on Thursday and Friday "as part of an extraordinary operation that followed the British anti-terrorist operation," the ministry said in a statement.

I don't get why they're choosing to use airplanes, other than to prove they still could.

Simultaneous suicide bombings in this country, in crowded foodcourts at malls across America could trigger an attack and create as much death and destruction as would have happened in those ten planes.

Why the elaborate plan, when, because of our open society a much simpler and easier executed (excuse the pun) plan could do similar damage?

Cell phones don't work to well high up anyway. I used to fly on small corporate planes. Your cell won't work at cruising altitude very well.

From what I understand, all checked luggage goes through serious scanning machines that can detect explosives. That's the rationale about making everyone put all liquids into their checked baggage.

I just wonder how these machines could detect, for example, Hydrogen Peroxide or Perchlorate. Are they that good?

the original stories were twenty planes... these guys are usually four in number... 80 just for the planes... doesn't count operational and financing.

Imagine what they could accomplish if they put all their money, talent, determination and organizational skills into something productive, like the Germans and the Japanese after they lost World War II.

The world is clueless and so are the people in London. I was watching C-Span and they were talking to a journalist is London and asked how the media is treating the situation. The answer was that they were all soul searching for the root cause of why these young men are so unhappy to do something like this.

They have not woken up to Radical Islam!
