Allow me to point out the Wikipedia entry on Persian Jews.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_Jews
Interesting to note is that they're only allotted one seat in their Parliament, and that discrimination and intimidation pretty much keeps them from doing much that might attract more negative attention than they do just by being alive.
"Jews in Iran are not allowed to communicate with Jewish groups outside of Iran unless the group is opposed to the existence of Israel..."
It is likely that until the mullahs are removed from power and the Persian Jews are allowed to express themselves candidly without fear of reprisals against themselves and their families, the real state of opinions among Persian Jews will remain unconfirmed. Wallace may have read a great deal of propaganda put out by the Iranian government and public statements made by Persian Jews under probable duress, and his internal bias has him inclined to believing that rather than noting that any community which is out numbered ten thousand to one, in a country noted for its religious fanaticism and arbitrarily unjust judicial system, is not going to vocally and publicly denounce their neighbors or call much attention to themselves.
This got pulled by the mods yesterday. Wonder why?
I heard Hannity's chat with Wallace yesterday. Wallace was babbling and incoherent for most of the time.
I've heard lately that it's the dictator's power that RATS wish to emulate. Maybe it's time for the RATS to get some new friends...
Nothing new for the senile old fool.
Anyone that thinks that idiot has anything worthwhile to contribute to the world of journalism is seriously deluded.
And anyone that submits to an interview by him is similiarly deluded, although in the case of AshcanIbinbad, he started off in a state of delusion.
A pox on the lot of them.
Wikipedia is the last source for any reference on FR. As a matter of fact, it should be ignored.
He thinks the Madman is sincere, but he still thinks Bush is dishonest.
I don't think he was incoherent. Just shockingly naive.
The guys at cBS who think Bush should be impeached over TANG place an awful lot of blind confidence in Ahmadinejad's bona fides.
They are smart enough not to conduct their own Jewish holocaust in Iran at this time, even though they would dearly love to do so. They know that such an action on their part would PO even the Europeans.
So they'll wait until they have the a-bomb before doing so.
Why was Mike Wallace picked for this interview?Does it have anything to do with his son working on Fox?
That's not true. Wikipedia is a useful reference, as long as it is kept in mind that it isn't an authoritative reference. Unless you're inclined to spend a month in a university library doing the necessary research to get a good grip on Persian Jews, Wikipedia's entry is sufficient for getting a grip on what is currently known.
Besides, it isn't that hard to read past the bias. The wikipedia entry I referenced was clearly carefully edited, but a few telling lines and facts emerge from it to indicate that Persian Jews are not "equal" citizens in Iran, and that they are carefully monitored. If not for their wealth and ability to generate wealth - they probably not have been tolerated to the degree that they have been. It is the same story from the time of the Ottomans, when Jews were tolerated for their industry and honesty in business, as well as for their inability to defend themselves against their neighbors if they should happen to piss them off.
With Wikipedia, it is trust and verify, and read carefully for bias - but it is also a quick reference for information. It doesn't take much to verify questionable statistics and facts in wikipedia entries, but even bad entries are good starting points for investigating a topic. At the least an entry will yield up names, dates, and other hard facts that can be used to hunt down details.
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
(Howie plays the sound clip fairly often)
No. The Madman picked him because Wallace did an interview many years ago with Komeini, and they liked the way Wallace did it then.
It wouldn't take much. There are probably less than 50,000 Jews in Iran, and all of them are probably registered somewhere. All it would take is a few nights with a few provocateurs with lists of names and addresses embedded in some mobs and the Jews would probably be wiped out.
I'm sure the Jews know this, and they must live their lives in perpetual fear of an outbreak of riots and violence. In many ways, the Jews in Iran are probably hostages to Israel's being careful when it comes to relations with Syria and Iran.
Exactly. They admire anti-American dictators because that's what they most want to be.
A sign, to this ol' boy, that I'mafoolajihad has a demonic mantle ... Wallace wouldn't have recognized the demonspirit if it had reached out and slap him. We are seeing the live expression of demonic spirit and won't even acknowledge it!
