I have a feeling that if any resolution ever DID require Hezbollah to disarm, that it the route they would take...
and then, in a few months, when the world once again is distracted...Hezzies will just be back.

The Israeli cabinet needs to get Olmert in for a psychiatric examination...he's got some serious problems staying on course.
Hezbollah is now MUCH stronger in the eyes of its supporters, and likely to strengthen its grip on Lebanon as well. It cares nothing about its human losses, and its material losses can be easily replaced.
Israel has lost its reputation for military prowess, thus losing a good part of its ability to deter future attacks.
Israel paid a high price, in both human and in economic terms, but failed to achieve ANY of its stated objectives.
How is this anything except a Hezbollah victory?
When one side emerges a LOT stronger, and the other side emerges a LOT weaker, it seems reasonable to say the side that emerged weaker lost. By that definition, Israel LOST. Big time.
Olmert CLAIMS to have won, of course. To believe that, you have to believe the UN will decide to provide meaningful protection to Israel.
The final UN resolution is not yet known, but I'd bet the farm that whatever it contains that seems to benefit Israel will be disregarded with impunity whenever Hezbollah chooses to do so, but Israel will be held to account whenever they attempt to respond. The UN is anti-Israel and anti-semitic to the core.
That Olmert has placed his country's security in the hands of the UN, enforced by France of all countries, is transparent folly.
Only in Olmert's dreams is this a "victory", or even a "tie".

All this crapola about a resolution being reached came BEFORE the Israeli naval vessel was hit. Gloves coming off IMO
they have already lost the element of surprise, in any sense. what are they going to do now - roll up to the border with 2000 tanks and 30K men?
BUT- we still don't have confirmation on that hi...at least none that I can find..

my own opinion - its a head fake. they want to claim they were dragged into the ceasefire just at the moment they were going to ramp up. Olmert needs to be able to blame the US/UN for their dis-engagement.
