I think that Israel pretty much got screwed...and I don't know where it is going...
I think there is a good chance that if fighting does stop for some reason..it may start up again over the release of those kidnapped soldiers.
Otherwise...why couldn't they have been part of THIS resolution??
Refusing to call Islam a religion is like refusing to call Buddhism a religion...or Shinto, or Hinduism, or Sikhism or Jainism or all the other things people do. There are ideological underpinnings in Islamofacism, but it's still done for the glory of God as they perceive it, and it's a whole lot more theistic than say Zen is. and they BELIEVE in ways a lot in the west just do not understand.
Not the first time in history that politics and religion have been conflated this way, either. One only needs to study the history of the English Civil War for another good example of how people, in their zeal, got hardheaded and demanding that people fall in line, and fought against what they thought was a threat or a misuse of religion. Once upon a time, people in Massachusetts hung quakers and baptists who were trying to teach their faith.

Because that resolution was pretty one-sided on their side..and if they are having doubts...they will show that the don't really WANT a deal..and so Israel can just take its sweet time getting out of south Lebanon.

There were Quaker trials but not to a great extent. Most went up to New Hampshire or Nantucket.
also many of the Quakers had a flip side to them.
I understand the wow factor of bringing a plane down but I've never really understood why the terrorists here don't concentrate more on soft targets...malls, churches, schools, etc. A backpack, diaper bag, shopping bag containing whatever can be slipped under a pew, hidden in a clothing rack or under the bleachers and with these phones as remote detonators, you don't even need to have a suicidal maniac at the helm. Two or three hundred or even two or three thousand of these set off wouldn't have a significant military impact but would have a big economic/psychological impact. Just a thought.
