Love is a Battlefield
IDF soldier received heart shaped cookie somewhere near the Lebanon border...
Did you hear on JB that he "has it on very good sources" that there is an aggressive investigation about Olmert and Perez about the handling of this war?????
Hints at some sort of scandal regarding the way the troops have been deployed.
Well, at lest until the world ends ;-)
I sure did,
WOT live thread?
Good idea but what we need to do is get real with that term. Terror is a tactic / IslamoFascist is the enemy.
WOIF
I agree, but I couldn't think of a good term for it on the fly. Maybe in the next few days we'll put on our thinking caps and come up with a better term?
Oh, now where was America??? I'm spittin'
And it was about TIME!!!!
Okay, so he asked, "was Rice freelancing?" Ala Colin Powell?
You must've missed the flame I put on 4but a few days ago.
:)
By the way, I don't have three sources for this, but I clearly remember reading this week that Powell had been to Syria about this thing.
I think you and I agree but I blame Olmert more than Rice.
It's been clear from day one that Olmert was never serious about this. The fact that the IDF, which can mobilize over 600K and be ready for action in 48 hours has spent the past month with 10K max called up and 3-5K at a time going in and out of Lebanon should have been a tip off.
Also, some articles reagrding the need for MLRS and some BLU-28s suggest that they didn't really have the materiel they needed and that made things tougher. They also seem to have encountered some problems with ATGMs, although in the end that's more of a nuisance than an obstacle.
Nevertheless, I have no doubt that a fully deployed IDF would do serious damage to Hezbollah.
Olmert appears to be afraid of casualties, even though 84 dead in 31 days pales in comparison to the 700 dead in 6 days and 2800 dead in 16 days that Israel took in past wars.
I think that fully deployed, and within 2 weeks or soo, the IDF could largely wipe out Hezbollah, push to the outskirts if Beirut and Baalbek, take out over 3K Hezbollah and create the facts on the ground that could produce a huge victory. They'd lose anywhere from 300-500 in so doing. Probably 50-100 tanks, a few more choppers, maybe a few jets even.
Unfortunately, it appears Olmert wasn't willing to pay that price. A price that I think is entirely acceptable given what results it would have achieved.
Now I guess we wait until the 22nd and see what the Supreme Leader has in store.
By the way, I'm pretty sure that in his younder days, Ali Khameini was one of the founders and original commanders of the Pasdaran and his front man Ahmadinejad was also a commander in the Pasdaran during the Iran-Iraq War. Food for thought.
That was Eli Lake was asked that question about where was America. To his credit, Batchelor would not engage, but he is sure mad at Olmert and wants his head!
I won't hold my breath. LOL
Sounds like a plan.
The least that could happen is he announces he's pulling out of the NPT. Guess we have to wait and see.
