Yes and no because I can always remember my dad telling me when I was a child the threat of the Islam so IMHO many of the older people probably understand it better than people of my generation or younger.

She was on the tube exactly where it blew up the day before it blew up, and now this.....

It is at times like these that it is good you are a younger mother. This stuff gets hard on you as you get older.

you'll be so glad to have the extra time....

I hope so. My older two had such wonderful teachers, it didn't bother me so much, but the teacher for Anna is very young with no children of her own. I stayed today in another class to help a new teacher and could observe some today. And while she was good with creative things, she wasn't very empathetic and patient. Sometimes quite harsh with the little ones. That made it harder for me I think. And I had a hard time getting her to sleep tonight. She kept crying, telling me she didn't want to go tomorrow. Just wanted to stay with me. So hard not to get emotional in front of her and to be positive. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

To all you cheese munchers out there:

We are well known in particular for cheddar cheese, but for the most part if you want a particular kind, we've got it here. Eat up. I can't stand the stuff.

I much prefer ice cream. If you're ever in the mood to do a little touring, go to the UW campus in Madison. The agriculture students make all of the milk products for the campus, and between the Memorial Union, Union South, and Babcock Hall where they are actually made, you will probably have at about 20-30 flavors to choose from on a given day. That's one thing I really miss about college. I had several favorites, but the two that come to mind first are Berry Alvarez (mostly blueberry; named for our football coach), Crazylegs (vanilla died pink so that it looked like watermelon with all the football-shaped chocolate pieces with caramel inside), and orange-custard chocolate chip. Whenever I buy a box of chocolates, I look for the ones with a fruity cream filling inside. Orange is my favorite, and that last flavor reminds me of those. Bon appetit.

I wonder if anyone has pictures of Dubya eating ice cream. They would be perfect for today's thread, but I do not recall ever seeing one.

I heard a blurb that the Brits did not tell us until the end for fear of another treasonous leak. Did anybody else hear that?

Not surprising. Sad, though. It's a shame we have those who are only interested in their own gains, rather than what is good for the country and humanity.

criticizing and thinking of others as better but more and more I see ordinary Brits (English) wanting to be British/English and be proud of it.

That's good. :)

I was out most of the day and didn't hear news until this evening, but were all the men they were looking for captured?

Do you mean the Egyptians loose here in the U.S.? They got six, but several are still on the loose.

As for the thugs who plotted to take down the airliners, word earlier today is that the British authorities might not have gotten all of them.

Very bittersweet. A friend and I were crying on each other's shoulders today, only her baby was starting high school. :) I can't even begin to imagine that milestone!

Most interesting. I think the earliest moment I realized the Islamic thugs were dangerous was during the Munich Olympics in 1972. I enjoyed sports from an early age, and was stunned when the Israeli athletes were killed.

Oh my, I was hoping they had found them all. It is so hard to continue life as is and not have this hanging over your head, causing worry about leaving home.

Grin...the march of time is no one's friend. Not even the young ones just starting out now. One day they will be moms and dads crying because their babies are leaving home. What goes around, comes around...just remind your baby of that when the time comes. ;-)
