Voter Suppression in Missouri (or fraud?)
New York Times ^

Missouri is the latest front in the Republican Partys campaign to use photo ID requirements to suppress voting. The Republican legislators who pushed through Missouris ID law earlier this year said they wanted to deter fraud, but that claim falls apart on close inspection. Missouris new ID rules and similar ones adopted last year in Indiana and Georgia are intended to deter voting by blacks, poor people and other groups that are less likely to have drivers licenses. Georgias law has been blocked by the courts, and the others should be too.

Hello,
Bite me, NYTimes. ....
The people you are crying about manage to get ID for Social Services (ie: free money). Use it to vote. Oh, I get it, you want to vote more than once, or have dead Grandma vote (also more than once). Anger growing here, on many fronts.
Glad to be here, MOgirl

They always seem to have sufficient ID to collect welfare, medicaid, social security benefits, etc. Why is it that suddenly because they have to ID themselves at the voting booth, it becomes a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?

Geez; I was typin' and you posted 12 seconds before me!

One very interesting thing about the Mexican Election held in Mexico a few weeks ago:
ALL MEXICAN VOTERS HAD TO HAVE A VALID GOVERNMENT APPROVED ID TO VOTE - EVEN POOR PEOPLE (and there are a lot of poor people in Mexico).

Hello,
Oh, I forgot, my brother can't drive, as he can not pass the vision test. HE has a photo ID, issued by the state of MO, just not a DL.
What crap,

Naw the nation is fine, this is what the libs have always been. They just couldn't keep it secret any more. Sorta like a political coming out of the closet.

The Dems in the urban areas of MO have been committing vote fraud is such a wholesale fashion for so long, that they are terrified of being called on it. They would crumble if they were forced to give up their scams and intimidation tactics.
I know quite a few people here in StL that would vote for conservative candidates but don't bother to, unless it's a national or close statewide issue. The recent stories have been bad enough but I've heard some real horror stories from old timers here.

If someone really wants to vote, he will get an ID. If they need ID for welfare, social security, driving, buying alcohol or whatever, people somehow manage to get it. Are they implying that poor people cannot buy alcohol?

Tell that to Mexico.
They are much poorer, and even less educated, and yet they require strong id's before you can vote.
And the poor have had no problem voting there.

Without a state issued ID or passport or other picture ID one cannot buy beer, whiskey, cigs, cigars, snuff, or whatever. This crap by the anti-American left about voter ID (we here in Florida must show picture ID) is trying to make sure that their voters can vote early and often as they have in most of the Democrat won elections. If you do not have an ID then you should not be allowed to vote period.

Ditto for my 86 year old mother who never drove in her life. The MO DMV was more than happy to provide a photo ID for her back in 1995... all we had to do was get her to any office that had a camera for taking the picture.
As an aside, how does this new law work with Absentee Ballots? Do you send in a copy of the ID along with the ballot??

[Missourians who have drivers licenses will have little trouble voting, but many who do not will have to go to considerable trouble to get special IDs.]
BULL!
These laws requiring government issued photo ID's to vote all contain provisions for making it ridiculously easy for any eligible voter to obtain one. The government will even pay for it and deliver it to people on demand. If you're too f****** lazy to pry their butt off the sofa long enough to get an ID card to prove you're an eligible voter, then America is better off with you NOT voting.
And claiming that the people who are trying to stop election fraud are just a bunch of racists by making sure that every voter is an eligible voter is abominable.

Hello,
Of course not. The Dems have held power in many places around the US simply and only due to to FRAUD. I seem to remember a eastern city (Philly, I think) that had an amazing 110% voter turn out, WOW, night of the zombies indeed.
The Left can only lie, cheat, steal and redirect truth to win. Asking for a photo ID to vote, HOW DARE THEY????
Glad to be here, wishing someone would ask for my ID to buy beer (LOL), MOgirl

When I voted on this past Tuesday I went in with only my registration card and my DL. I handed both to the woman to look me up in her book. She handed me back my DL and said we don't need this today but will in November.
I thanked her and said I came prepared.
Now how anyone can do anything in this state without some kind of photo ID is living in a world I would not know how to find.
To: Nuc1
The nation is not fine when nuts like this have this much power. It is illegal in my state to ask for ID when voting.
