An Israeli soldier avoids dust as a military helicopter prepares to land on the Israel-Lebanon border August 9, 2006 to evacuate troops injured in fighting in southern Lebanon.
Good thinking...because before today..Iran wasn't making any noises of joining any fight...just Syria.
BTW..Bill Cowan on Fox News...HE says he doesn't think the Thwarted plot in London as being an al-queda operation..but doesn't know who it was.
He DID say that he sees Israel taking the Bekaa Valley...and that hopefully, Saddam's WMDS will be found there..so I guess HE isn't thinking there will be a cease fire anytime soon.
I expect a shattering of alliances soon in the Israeli Knesset. I wouldn't be surprised if people are campaigning quietly behind the scenes, trying to budge people as the unrest grows.
Of course, I'm an outsider looking in, and before the flare up of hostilities, I hadn't followed it very closely, but there seems a growing perception of Olmert and Peretz' weakness...
Bibi had some real conflict and bad press last time he was PM, but some of the realities are different this time, including the growing awareness that the sacrifices of land isn't buying them any safety.
When the Zionists began to move into what is now Israel back in the 1880s or thereabouts, they found the land had been badly used, highly deforested, and ill managed. For years as long as I remember there have been drives to get people to donate to plant trees in Israel. I suspect a lot of it had been planted since the 50s.
Their seems to be a growing disconnect bwtn the military and the politicians. Here you have this IDF SF commander saying "we're going to the Bekka", and on the other hand you have the politicians saying we've almost reached a cease fire agreement. That's about as opposite as you can get in this conflict.
It had to be tried though, don't you think?
Even if only for the public historical record that they did try that avenue.
Yes, one person's "diversity" is anothers multinationalism...and most articles I have read about multinationalism are NOT positive ones.
Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC just said authorities believe this was an al-queda plot...after LT. Cowan on Fox says he doesn't think it was...
interesting..
BAh...I have very DEEP fears that Islam HAS worked it's way into our society so much...that getting rid of it would be on par with what the Israelis are having to do re: targeting Hezbollah, without killing Lebanese people..IMPOSSIBLE.
Knowing the mindset of the Iranians (the keys) will make Ahmadinejad's interview with Mike Wallace even more maddening for those of us who know. He's going to paint us as evil while they are for peace...and the left will eat it up.
Oh geez... I don't think my nerves can take much more!
bttt
It was a big operation...and had been working for months. This type of thing isn't something a bunch of geeks pull off, so I suspect Al Qada connections.
Would be really interesting if it was funded by Shiite power going through Sunni buffers...
They tried, and the people could have benefited bit them.
WOW..could Israel be having a "vietnam moment"???
When the politicians try to run the war??
Lord help them if they do.
The politicians always run the war. But the wise politician tells the military the goal, and lets them go for it. The dumb interfere too much, and lose.
I gotta tell you...there is NO WAY the Ahmanutjob should get ANY network time...except as news.
NOT a feel good interview by a dotty old man.
Lt. Cowan mentioned it could be Iran pulling the strings. I tend to agree with him on this one..a gut feeling is all.
Should have been one or the other...not both.
Here's a sampling of reaction on an AQ forum:
I am amazed by our brothers here who believe everything said by the British
It is easier to strike America from nearby rather than come on trips away from Britain ...
I do not believe this news ... If it is intended to (cause) loss of life as the British it would have been preferable in this case to attack where cinemas, discotheques and bars ... Etc.
I think that the whole propaganda of the first class may have an indirect impact on elections in Britain or the British occupation of Iraq now and especially after the increasing frequency of the targeting of British troops there ... Things will be clear soon, God.
I know...I know..it kind of keeps the old stress level WAY up, doesn't it?
Well, this is the best place for me to be...I don't have family or friends that even WATCH the news, let alone pay attention.
I think they are counting on me to tell them anything important.
Therefore, I get my pep talks from freepers...especially when I panic about what the Israelis are finally going to do in Lebanon.
You are welcome to post your fears here anytime..and you won't be ridiculed or questioned...trust me.
