Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags. Hope they'll at least allow you to bring a book to read. It is a long flight across the Atlantic.

Passengers on all flights will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK. Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.

I heard a couple of days ago (I think on Fox News) that an American Airlines jet that had left Heathrow Airport turned around and landed back at Heathrow. I believe someone who had a name on the global "terrorist watch" list was removed...
