Seems that this is a reversal of plans of a couple of months ago due to pressure from the left. Perhaps the Labourite left has different heroes and would rather plans be made for a state funeral for the likes of Elton John.
Anybody who is old enough to remember the dismal world scene in the late 1970s should have a debt of gratitude for Margaret Thatcher.

I think that's an outrageous slap in the face to her.

This is an outrage!
Every PM should be given a State funeral. Some, like Baroness Thatcher, have actually earned them!

When queers are knighted, you know that nation is on its death-bed.
To: Colonel Kangaroo
Isnt it inappropriate to make any kind of plans while she is still alive?

Blair is a worthless socialist gungrabbing little creep.
Ten years ago, Lady Thatcher would have slapped him silly.

Never underestimate the absolute pettiness and visciousness of the Left.
I wish President Bush would offer to host a state funeral for Lady Thatcher her here... Even better, we could offer to let them handle Jimmy Carter's funeral as well in exchange.
To: Colonel Kangaroo
Lady Thatcher, who is reported to be in good health, was prime minister from 1979 to 1990. Geeze, from the title of this article, I thought Lady Thatcher had died! Is it customary for state funerals to be discussed BEFORE the former head of state passes on?
Regardless, if the Brits don't protest this contemptuous decision, we may as well flush them down the toilet along with the French. This is disgraceful....
To: Colonel Kangaroo
OK, we'll give her one, with an outpouring of love and respect second only to that given our beloved Ronnie. Good Lord, they don't have a clue, do they? On second thought, they do understand the lesson of Reagan's funeral. That is when all the years of MSM positioning of him came apart. Must be that the left over there understands that the public tribute to Lady Thatcher will rekindle some backbone in their unarmed sheeple.

WTF??? Margaret Thatcher was THE most influential conservative woman in my life and Tony Blair is going to bow to the pressure from leftist idiots and not salute this lady as she should be remembered?
Lady Thatcher is an icon and she, along with Ronald Reagan, had an enormous influence on a generation. She may not get a state funeral (a**holes) but she will always be remembered.

If Margaret Thatcher's passing isn't worthy of all the pomp and ceremony that the British can muster, then certainly no one else is worthy.

You had me scared there.
Yes, it is an insult to the woman who, with Reagan, brought down Communism.
At least we have the good sense to honor our true heros. Only a bunch of leftist pantywaists would want to bury her accomplishments.

There is a great difference between the Ubited States and britain. We had Rosa parks lying in state in the Rotunda for refusing to go to the back of the bus. England will not give a State funeal for this woman who ran the country so well for so many years. Well they fired Winston Churchill too.

'No state funeral' for Thatcher TONY BLAIR has ruled out the possibility of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher being given a state funeral. Somebody's stepping on their crank big time. I think this is going to really piss off the queen and future king William.

For a minute there, I was wondering if Margaret Thatcher was still alive. I was glad to read that she's in good health. But decreeing that Thatcher will have no state funeral is a classless move from Blair.
