Teach your children well (David Parker called a bigot)

Letter: Teach your children well Thursday, July 27, 2006

David Parker is right - he should be allowed to "direct the moral upbringing of his children." As a parent, educator, and citizen, I am glad to see any parent take responsibility for his children's upbringing. I know of no one who would deny him this right.

Unfortunately for Parker, he has chosen to instill in his children a sense of bigotry that that the majority in his community condemn. While it is a sad reality that in parts of the country people are judged by their race, gender, age, and sexual orientation, that is not the case in Lexington or Massachusetts.

History has shown that schools cannot always teach what is right - they must remain to a certain extent within the constraints of popular opinion. So perhaps 150 years ago, one could have taught his children that slavery was morally justifiable, and he could have taken umbrage with any person or institution telling his children otherwise. Perhaps 100 years ago one could have raised his children to believe that women were inferior to men, and he could have rested comfortably knowing that enough of the country agreed with him for the topic to stay out of the public schools. Perhaps 50 years ago one could have preached to his children that separate but equal was tolerable, and could rest assured that since the majority of Americans thought likewise, the subject would not be broached in the schools. And perhaps if one lived in a less socially conscious part of the country, he could teach his children that homosexuality is wrong, and hide behind the majority who hold this antiquated and archaic view.

But Parker lives in Lexington, Massachusetts, a place that has always been on the forefront of defending liberties, and a town that believes all are equal before the law. And because the majority in the community believes all are equal before the law, teaching this in the schools stays within the constraints of popular opinion - and within the published curriculum of the schools. Thus, Parker's conflict.

Moving forward, perhaps in 50 years we can look back on these times and view homophobia the way we now view slavery and other practices that condemn people based upon their race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. And at that time we can be thankful that we have progressed as a nation and learned to treat all people with dignity and respect.

Typical hateful rhetoric voiced by typically "socially conscious" denizen of Lexington, Massachusetts.

I thought the school agreed to get the parents permission before teaching the homosexual agenda?

One of the signs of the "end times" is that "good will be called evil" and "evil will be called good."

Not sure such a time has existed before.

These are the same Scum Bags who put their children up to beating his 8 year old Boy unconcious on the school playground. Or the same crowd in a predominately Gay Community who call Straight couples "Breeders". Homosexual Bigots who hate Straight people.

Take note, all ye who live in "a less socially conscious part of the country."

Interesting to see how calling David Parker a bigot is an example of how some in Lexington "treat all people with dignity and respect."

Homosexual Bigots who hate Straight people.

Shall we kill them all or should we choose only the worst among them?

Delusional Lexington MA. Homosexuality cannot be equated with any of the other categories in history, it isn't a race! It isn't immutable, and it isn't moral/

Chidren, most especially young children, should not be taught about sex at all, sex of any kind. Unlike MA, most states know this. But Lexington is on the forefront to push it on kids as young as preschool now, and would make that preschool mandatory. (Romney vetoed it, let's see if they override that too)

Forcing others to think and feel as you do, is communism. It isn't about tolerance, it's about acceptance and teaching kids what they think and feel, no matter how wrong it is.

Precisely the problem. The school refuses to adhere to the law, and misstates guidelines to support its refusal: http://lps.lexingtonma.org

Paul Ash, school superintendent press release:
The Massachusetts Department of Education, which is responsible for administering Section 32A, has explained that activities and materials designed to promote tolerance and respect for individuals, including recognition of differences in sexual orientation "without further instruction on the physical and sexual implications" do not trigger the notice and opt out provisions of Section 32A. Under this standard, staff has no obligation to notify parents of discussions, activities, or materials that simply reference same-gender parents or that otherwise recognize the existence of differences in sexual orientation. Accordingly, I expect teachers to continue to allow children access to such activities and materials to the extent appropriate to childrens ages, to district goals of respecting diversity, and to the curriculum.

What are you reading that makes you think that? Ash specifically said he would NOT let parents opt out.

Governor Mitt Romney, an opponent of same-sex marriage, said: ''Schools under our parental-notification law are required to inform parents . . . of matters relating to human sexuality that may be taught in the classroom and to allow that child to be out of the classroom for that period of the education."

Thomas B. Griffiths, Lexington School Committee chairman, said parents of older students are notified in advance when sex education will be taught.

The bag of books promoting diversity is sent home with one student at a time, said Rachel F. Cortez, copresident of the Estabrook parent-teacher association and a member of the school's Anti-Bias Committee.

Parents received notice about the book bag at the beginning of the year and the date that it was scheduled to be sent home with their child. The bag's contents also were put on display at a back-to-school night earlier in the school year, she said, and parents are not required to have their child bring it home.

''The kids don't have to take them [the materials] home," she said. ''Parents can either opt out entirely or use whatever materials they want."

And perhaps in 60 more years, we will look back with disdain at the ridiculous idea that mere age should present an artificial barrier between a man and a sexual relationship with his "boy." --NAMBLA

I know of no one who would deny him this right.

How about the school district itself?

The books are in all the elementary classrooms! There is no "opting-out". The diversity bookbag is only one small element of the plan of indoctrination. And another book normalizing homosexual behavior "King and King" was read by a teacher in the same Estabrook school to a class of second graders:

LEXINGTON, MA - APRIL 19. Lexington public school officials have told Rob and Robin Wirthlin that since "gay marriage is legal" they may describe homosexual relationships to their son in second grade, without notice, and that parents may not opt their child out of such discussions. The Wirthlins are livid.

Son comes home with bizarre story. On March 24, their second-grade son came home from the Estabrook Elementary School and repeated to his mother the story read to him earlier that day about men getting married to each other. His teacher had read the book "King and King" to the class, in which a prince doesn't want to marry any princesses, but instead falls in love with a princess's brother and marries him in a big palace wedding. Mrs. Wirthlin remembers that it was so startling to her son that he described details of the book such as that "the queen even shed a tear." It obviously made an impression on him.

And here is the school administration position:
Support by town's school administration. As described on two Boston-area TV news reports, Lexington Superintendent Paul Ash and School Committee Chairman Helen Cohen, both with a history of promoting the normalization of homosexual behavior in the schools, both supported the actions by the principal. Ash gave reporters his public statement that sexual orientation and homosexual relationships do not constitute "human sexual issues" as described in the Massachusetts parental notification law -- M.G.L. Ch. 73 Sec. 32a. Therefore, Ash has instructed teachers NOT to give parents any notification on these topics! And Helen Cohen appeared on TV saying that since there are so many homosexual "parents" in Lexington, she believes they must "affirm" homosexuality in the public schools for the sake of the kids.

I know darkangel, and it is so sad.

Wonder where these school districts will find the money some years from now, to pay all the law suits they are incurring. I can see them mounting as we speak, when these students get older and have all sorts of problems.

At least this educator admitted, however obliquely, they consider parents an impediment to instilling their weltanschaung. He only brought it up to cut down his strawmen, and doubtless has no idea how horrific it is, that schooling is in large part collective socialist indoctrination, when our students lag badly behind the rest of the world when it comes to subjects which truly matter and will determine their station in life.

They're so blinded by PC they can't think straight

The problem is not just their thinking, but their actions:

David Versus the Bolsheviks: The Battle of Lexington Green in the Year, 2005 Written by Linda Kimball Sunday, September 25, 2005

On April 27 of this year, the heavy hand of Bolshevism clamped down upon David Parker, a Lexington, Massachusetts, citizen and father of a six-year-old son. David was arrested on trumped-up charges, handcuffed like a dangerous felon, and led off to jail. His heinous crime? Parker is guilty of being a morally principled man with the courage to request that he and his wife be given advance notification when issues of sexual unnaturalness and perversion (transgenderism, sodomy, and same-sex headed relationships) were going to be discussed in his son’s classroom. Said Parker, “Certain authorities insist that I agree that my children must be taught that gay relationships and transgender transformation are acceptable and normal. When I firmly, albeit patiently, objected and then finally insisted to be notified when and how my own children were to be exposed to these issues, I was arrested and hauled off to jail.” Freedom of conscience has been made a hate-crime in Massachusetts.

Among the communist goals listed on the Congressional Record—Current Communist Goals (pp. A34-A35, Jan. 10, 1963) are these: 17) Get control of the schools…use as transmission belts for socialism, 25) Break down cultural standards of morality, 26) Present homosexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as 'normal, natural, healthy.'

These goals are affirmed by the Communist Textbook of Psychopolitics. It is written, “Degradation and conquest are companions. In order to be conquered a nation must be degraded. By attacking the character and morals…by bringing about contamination of youth, a general degraded feeling (will facilitate) command of the population.”

Lexington Bolshevik commissars are actualizing invidiously evil stratagems devised to effectuate moral decay and collapse within America. In their capacity as school board officials and as teachers, they are spreading propaganda designed to “destroy the home.”

Funny, I haven't heard of David Parker's son beating up any kids on the playground at school. However his son has been the victim of such hatred and bigotry from the children of some of the enlightened parents in Lexington.
