Why is America waiting to be attacked by Iran? Why do we sit on the sidelines while Tehran makes war on our ally Israel in order to provoke America to join the fighting, first against Syria and then against Tehran itself? Why do we listen to the European appeasers as they pretend the Lebanon front is a regional conflict, a national liberation contest, when it is demonstrably the prelude to the wider war the Spain 1936 to the continental war of 1939? What is the explanation for America's willful fiction that the United Nations Security Council can engineer an accommodation in Lebanon, when it is vivid to every member state that this is a replay of September 1938, when Europe fed Hitler the Sudetenland as the U.N. now wants to feed the jihadists the sovereignty of Israel?
The most threatening answer is that America waits to be bloodied because it has lost its will to defend itself after five years of chasing rogue-state-sponsored gangsters and after three years of occupation in failed-state Iraq against Tehran- and Damascus-backed agents. A grave possibility is that America is now drained, bowed, ready to surrender to the tyrants of Tehran.
Then again, perhaps America has been here before, and it is part of America's destiny as the New Jerusalem that we rarely start wars but that we are unusually good at finishing them.
There is a strange parallel right now to the first days of December 1941, before the Japanese sneak attack. America was still not in the war in Asia and Europe, but it was busy getting ready for a momentous calamity and was filled with the presentiment of doom.
My treasured evidence that America knew what was coming is Life Magazine, Volume 11, No. 23, dated December 8, 1941,

It is what we, Americans, do.....
Truth is there will be nukes going off in our cities before we get serious about the WOT
Considering the rhetoric coming from Iran, I would not be surprised to see August 22nd, 2006 go down in history alongside December 7th, 1941.
This is a stupid article.
Why are we just accepting that Islamonazis bomb innocent civilians and riot in our streets? Iran has effectively exported the war and the media is lulling us into accepting that we should only engage their client-actors.
No... it's time to take the fight to their soil.
We're going to be attacked at any second now....if only the islamderthals could find a way to deliver a nuke.
After watching the Ned Lamont victory speech last night, the answer is fairly obvious - the American fifth column useful idiot brigade on the Left.
The problem with the article is that Mr. Batchelor assumes that nothing is being done with regard to Iran, nor with regard to preparations.
Neither are true. Batchelor comes across as a whiny little keyboard kommando.
Thanks for the wonderful insight.
See my previous post. Batchelor is making stupid assumptions, and as a result he has written a stupid article. The lucky thing for him is, he gets paid by the word, without regard to the words' stupidity.
Are we going to wait until we are nuked? I can't believe Iran has yet to be attacked by Israel? This is crazy.
Some would say... it's the curse of the democracies.
>>Why is America waiting to be attacked by Iran? <<<
for the same reason we waited for and allowed an attack on Pearl Harbor....<<
Precicely. And heaven help the nation that does it.
You mistake vague generalizations for actual valid points, and you begin to sound like John Kerry talking about his "plan." If you are privy to all of the things we are doing to prevent the attack let's hear about some of them.
I work across from the WTC, but buisness will have me out of Dodge on 8/22.
I don't think we are waiting to get attacked. I think we are waiting until August 21st to attack. Making an August 22nd attack by Iran (if such a thing is even in the works), seem much more defensive, and therefor, less empowering to the Muslim world.
Or, we could just believe that we have everything under control. :/
If I were privy to plans, you'd certainly have to be aware that I wouldn't talk about them.
That makes it easy to to assume that nothing is being done -- and that certainly plays the "chicken little" niche of the media market.
However, to presume that our military assets Right Next Door (in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf) are somehow unaware of Iran's threats; and that the Bush Administration is somehow blind to them as well, is simply silly. After all: Iran has been mentioned as a SPECIFIC threat, and has been on the front burner for many months.
The article is stupid.
