Indicators observed by independent Iran watchers during the past week are raising the question that nuclear-seeking Iran is not merely playing a serious game of brinkmanship, but is actually preparing to strike at Israel, European and US interests.
Headlined "Iran declares war," a May 11 editorial in the New York Sun expressed the belief that a recent letter written by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which had been widely interpreted as a peaceful gesture, "is in fact a declaration of war."
According to the Sun, a coded message is contained in the closing section of the eight-page letter. While the rest of the message had been translated into English, the salutation in had not. It reads "Vasalam Ala Man Ataba'al hoda" and means "Peace only unto those who follow the true path."

Iran.
We don't buy any oil from Iran. Oil is a global commodity where demand is increasing almost faster than supply. China is buying long term oil contracts from Iran and has a growing demand as they become more industrialized and wealthier. India is in a similar circumstance. The world's demand for oil will be with us long after we, our children and grandchildren are long gone.
We have Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq. Iran is surrounded.
We have Iraq airspace that we'd have to take uninvited. We don't have Iraq and we're unlikely to in a war against Iranian shia
Do you suppose the mad mullahs gave satisfying nods to the news of Lieberman's defeat?
Just my opinion.
Good one
Yet another Jimmy Carter legacy.
I wonder how many boomers are in the Persian Gulf right now? Multiple platforms, multiple launch tubes, multiple warheads, and a target rich environment. Does he have a clue what the cost would be if he pulls something?
We don't buy any oil from Iran.
I didn't suggest that. I suggested that we deny them income. (doesn't mean U.S. income) About all they have to sell is oil. Wipe that out and where would their funding of terror come from?
The willing sacrifice I referred to is the worldwide ramifications that would be involved in taking a big chunck of oil producing off-line and/or the increase in price that may follow.
lol
Due to years of denial, deception, and defenselessness, I believe we are vulnerable to blackmail. Ahmadinejad only needs to tell our President that any US retaliation will lead to the destruction of one or more American cities, or widespread attacks. Would a politically-weakened George Bush take such a risk? Is his (our) intelligence that good? That's what really worries me.
That is unless Iran decides to go nuclear. Then the only option is to respond in kind...
If you believe that, I have a nice bridge for sale.
Cowards they are but with some good detective work I'm convinced we could trace it back to them.
This guy is a total wacko, I wouldn't put anything past him.
Right. Not Jerusalem, but Tel Aviv.
I visited the site and have my doubts also.
Do you really think if there were terrorists in the country with weapons of mass destruction they wouldn't have used them already?
Or if they are here and trying to obtain them that they wouldn't use them when they do?
"Not Jerusalem, but Tel Aviv."
Exactly.
BTW, I was at the temple sometime back. If you're looking for a change in shoe wear, you'll find a big selection outside the mosque. Looks like a Pay-Less bazaar sale.
Yes, actually. These are not harebrained angry American moonbat types we're talking about. They are disciplined, committed and fiercely loyal, not to mention more than willing to die for their cause (as we've learned). These people are perfectly capable of waiting years, if necessary, before acting on their orders. In addition, they need not actually have usable WMD's in their possession; the existence of a plausable threat may be enough to restrain the US from retaliating to an Iranian attack on Israel. Finally, it's not just WMD's that we need to be concerned with. All manner of military weapons might be employed in the service of regional domestic terrorism - RPG's, mortars, road mines, and even the same kinds of IED's our troops are faced with in Iraq.
