Bump. You beat me to it. I was about to post this, if no one else had.

Great summary, and it goes beyond Reuters and brings in the AP and the NY Times.

And, taken together, they raise a very serious question: can any of the coverage by the entrenched media by trusted?

In a word, NO. In a bunch of words, these exposed foibles (read: "deceptions") merely cast doubt on the authenticity of ALL coverage of ALL stories. These are just the ones who got caught red-handed and exposed by the blogs. How many thousands of other stories have been reported as news and believed hook-line-and-sinker by the public which may turn out to have been manipulated in one of these four ways?

I've looked at the MSM with a jaundiced eye for many years now, but these latest scandals serve well to destroy the credibility of any and all journalists. Every one of them has an agenda or bias, it's just human nature. So we have to ask: What truth has been whitewashed, misrepresented, twisted, or omitted to shape the story to fit that bias?

Reuters has merely hastened the demise of the dinosaur.

For a brief MSM history of 'doctored' photos, see the following link and page down to the section: Reuters: Don't DARE Question Their Veracity.

This blog also includes more information on this most recent Reuters fakery. Page down to the section: Another Fake Reuters Photo from Lebanon.

This should not be surprising, but inevitable.
The MSM, once it abandoned straight reporting and embraced "color" and commentary, placed itself into a tangled web that eventually had to collapse.

The impact of the web in our lives is just now beginning to be truly appreciated, and we have just begun to see the real impact.

There is no way to talk themselves out of it. Even the damage control of apologizing and firing low level players will not make the problem go away. In 2006 that simply can't happen.

I am looking forward to much, much more of this sort of thing pushing the dinosaur MSM into functional irrelevance, as well as underscoring the importance of reviving the concepts of treason and the importance of "war by other means", and the role of them in modern international relations.

Once the concept of "newsgathering knows no nationality" was accepted unquestioningly by only one side of all world conflicts, this confrontation was just a matter of time.

A good start might be the banning of Reuters from the U.S. and any U.S.-connected activities anywhere in the world.
Overreaction? Hardly!

This is an excellent article, and I highly recommend following the link and reading the whole thing. This is a detailed explanation with photos of the journalistic fraaud that has been uncovered, with links to different sites that are working on it.

There is NO DOUBT that there is massive fraud going on, and the writer has done a fine job of explaining the fraud to those who might be doubtful.

It used to be that we thought of AP, Reuters, UPI, AFP, CP etc. as being the independent news organizations that could be relied to present the facts and nothing but the facts.

But their journalistic integrity has been gone for a long time now. They have been infiltrated by leftists and like many univerity campuses, you can not get a job or assignment with them anymore unless you are a leftist and willing to distort the news.

Those of us on FR etc. have known this for a long time but the general public does not know that when they see an - AP byline, they are getting an agenda-filled-news-story.

Sad, but reality.

The author did not date his article (the original at the link). It should be helpful in the future if he did.
