UNITED NATIONS — The French-American alliance at the United Nations over a Mideast cease-fire agreement is crumbling, sources tell FOX News.

The French U.N. delegation has joined with Arab nations and is now calling for a complete and immediate Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon as a condition of any cease-fire, the sources said.

In addition, the French have reportedly agreed with Arab demands that the Lebanese force be accompanied only by UNIFIL, with no international force to be deployed.

Shouldn't the title have Franco-American alliance? Some of the French see this as a way for France and Europe to be considered an alternative to the United States. A BBC link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5257602.stm . (P.S. William Horsley seems to be consistently antiAmerican).

Apparently we missed the "Israel must die" in the small print on the back of the agreement when this 'deal' was first reached.

I guess the French just assumed we must have known that had to be part of any deal.

I'll take a stab at this, some Middle-East country (Iran) offered France some sort of oil deal in return for their dropping the support for the resolution.

Bush knew his UN proposal was going to go nowhere. He also knew exaclty what the frogs would do when the shit hit the fan. The man plays some pretty mean poker. And Israel continues to stack up hezzie cordwood.

According to some older relatives who were involved in chasing the Germans out of France during WWII, the US-France alliance began to crumble the minute we saved their sorry a$$es back in 1945. Or was it 1944?

It's just a hunch but then again, I really never cared so much for France to have their name on any resolution. This really just saves everyone the hassle of having to argue over a "cease-fire".

The French will gladly sign on to a cease fire if the Germans demand they do so.

Bush is slow-walking this ceasefire. It should be obvious to everybody.
