"On the John Batchelor show, the word is that Joe Lieberman will come out within ten minutes or so to make some kind of statement (no telling whether or not he will talk about running as an Independent). Of course, it's only 20 minutes away from the 11:00 PM local news, and so perhaps Lieberman will wait so that he can make his statement live on the late news..."As soon as Senator Lieberman declares that he is running as a Lieberman-Democrat or Independent, the Democrats lose 1 Senator in Congress.
There will be only 43 sitting Democratic Party Senators, plus independents Jeffords and Lieberman.
This is a point that the MSM will attempt to bury, but the Democrats just *lost* a Democratic Party Senator (to a switch to Independent) tonight.

I think he can, and I think he will, elect to be seated as a democrat.

The other little benefit behind a Lamont narrow win in this primary will be that Lieberman has a good chance of winning as an Independent and get reelected to the Senate but will go back mad as hell that his former party sold him out.
