Three-term Sen. Joe Lieberman trailed in early returns Tuesday, struggling to overcome a tough primary challenge and escape payback from his own party for supporting the Iraq war.
Six years after Democrats backed him for vice president, Lieberman was trailing with 44 percent, or 25,596 votes, to political novice Ned Lamont's 56 percent, or 32,840 votes, with 19 percent of precincts reporting.

In Texas, will the GOP even have a candidate in the DeLay slot? (I have been on vacation and have not heard.) DeLay is thinking about having a right in candidate run.

Despicable left-wing anti-Semites hate Joe Leiberman because of his orthodox Jewish values. That's why they reject him, that's why they are on the side of Hezbolllah, that's why they want us to lose in Iraq. Curse them, Lord help me, I really cannot stand them. The Lamont-hate-America-hate-Israel leftists RATS are disgusting.

Seeing as some say this is a referendum on war, does this mean that 49% of the dimocRATS in Connecticut support the war effort? Pretty good if you ask me.
I think Joe losing by 1 or 2% is great. Now if he will just caucus with the Republicans. Problem is reality. Every dimocRAT will kiss his behind and say they back him all along.

On the John Batchelor show, the word is that Joe Lieberman will come out within ten minutes or so to make some kind of statement (no telling whether or not he will talk about running as an Independent). Of course, it's only 20 minutes away from the 11:00 PM local news, and so perhaps Lieberman will wait so that he can make his statement live on the late news...

Hopefully, Harris County Judge Robert Eckles will run. He declined to run before, but perhaps he could be persuaded to change his mind.

I wonder when Michigan will start counting votes? I'd like to see RINO John Schwarz defeated.

If DeLay withdraws now and it's rumored he will then there will be no name in the Republican slot. The RPT are talking of trying to get a write in candidate selected and get support behind him. The write ins have to be delcared for the write in candidate list and papers filed with petitions and cash by Aug. 29.
