The FBI has issued an urgent nationwide alert for 11 Egyptian students who entered the United States last week but failed to show up for their courses at Montana State University.
An FBI advisory says there are, at present, no known connections to any terrorist group but that the students are to be "approached with caution" and taken into custody. They "are here illegally and wanted for questioning," the advisory says.
The advisory comes just over a month before the five-year anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.
"This is of very serious concern and is being closely tracked," said Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
The FBI says the Egyptians arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on July 29 and disappeared. The advisory says the alert is nationwide but that there is specific concern the Egyptians may be on the Eastern Seaboard.
According to the advisory the 11 missing Egyptians are:
1. Ibrahim, El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed; DOB OF 4/29/1986.
2. El Dessouki, Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed; DOB OF 02/21/1985.
3. El Bahnasawi, Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali; DOB OF 04/02/1986.
4. Abd Alla, Mohamed Ragab Mohamed; DOB OF 02/15/1984.
5. El Laket, Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi; DOB OF 09/01/1986.
6. El Ela, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou; DOB OF 02/02/1985.
7. El Moghazy, Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed; DOB OF 08/08/1986.

10.Maray, Mohamed Saleh Ahmed; DOB OF 09/12/1985.
11.El Shenawy, Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad; DOB OF 08/12/1988.
Busted! Didn't turn himself in. Curiouser and curiouser.
and you can bet he has an ACLU lawyer already to prevent him from being questioned about where the other are.
From 2004...
He was probably found having a sausage breakfast biscut down at the noody bars on Hennepin Ave.
So one student is in custody; good! Hopefully he'll give over details where the other 10 are.
From Captain's Quarters (partially quoting from the Powerline link you provided):
"For some reason, the Twin Cities keeps coming up as a critical location for al-Qaeda operations. This dynamic first appeared shortly before the 9/11 attacks with the arrest of Zacarias Moussaoui in the Captain's home port of Eagan, and now Power Line reports that the latest instance occurred yesterday with the arrest of an associate of Abu al-Zarqawi:
A Lebanese national who allegedly told Minneapolis FBI agents he trained with Al-Qaida and knew three of its leaders, including one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq, has been charged in connection with an international terrorism inquiry.
On Friday, a federal judge in New York ordered the suspect, Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi, who has lived in Minneapolis, transported to Minnesota without bail on charges of lying to federal agents.
During a series of voluntary interviews in April, Elzahabi told Minneapolis FBI agents that while in Afghanistan in the late 1980s and 1990s, he knew Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, the Al-Qaida figure now suspected of engineering several deadly kidnappings in Iraq; Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, and Abu Zubaida, a top Al-Qaida leader.
Elzahabi is charged with lying in denying that he sent walkie-talkies to Pakistan and that he helped get a Massachusetts driver's license for a man later convicted of plotting to bomb American and Israeli tourists in Jordan.
Unfortunately, most of our Twin Cities neighbors have chosen to shade their eyes to this threat. We have a wonderfully diverse community in the Twin Cities, one of whose components is an active and vibrant Somali community. While the vast majority of these people celebrate their freedom in the US, their presence allows al-Qaeda operatives some manuevering room here, as the arrests of six other men in our area for their AQ connections since 9/11 indicate, including that of Mohammed Abdullah Warsame, whose arrest sparked a short-lived protest from Twin Cities Somalis.
This action shows that the FBI has not let up in its counterterrorism efforts and remains vigilant in the area. However, it also shows that al-Qaeda has not given up in its efforts to infiltrate American cities, using blameless immigrants to hide themselves from justice and in some cases to manipulate immigrant communities into protesting on their behalf. AQ's continued focus on this area worries me, especially after the FBI smashed the conspiracy to attack a Columbus shopping mall earlier this month. After all, the largest and most famous shopping mall in the US is located minutes away from my house."

We must have had a tail on him and when no one showed at the embassy and the dude made a "funny move", we picked him up.
That could be. It would be odd we picked him up since photos haven't been distributed to the general public, unless it was an unusually alert policeman.
Still no photos and the segment on Dayside was abbreviated to cover the hezzbola cretin's boring little speech.
That was J. Edgar Hoover that always got his man ;>)
Hopefully now that they've found one they can sweat him a little to tell where the others are and what they're planning.
And if he doesn't talk, I don't want to hear a word of complaint from the left that light therapy and sleep deprivation is torture.
Hopefully, is right. HOPEFULLY he can be persuaded to talk.
If they are in Minn there is only one nearby target they could be looking at -- Chicago's Sears Tower (or maybe Chicago generally).
CNN just reported that 2 more have been found - in New Jersey
I wonder if the other 10 are somewhere in MN. Any super tall buildings in Minneapolis or sensitive terrorist areas?
Good job in keeping an eye on this guy and keeping his name, too.
Thanks, I felt like a true private eye. lol. But, seriously.. alot of us were and still are vigilant since 9/11. I gave the FBI all the info that I had. They never did tell me what became of the the license plate situation. But, he moved shortly after that.
We live in a small southern town and I feel so safe here and have always said that Arabs stick out like sore thumbs here.
But a month or so ago there were several front page newspaper articles that several Arabs tried to purchase large numbers of Trak phones at the Dollar stores and Wal-Mart. Since 9/11, this is prohibited and the managers called the police. One store manager saw them throw away all the packaging including the recharging battery to the two phones they were permitted to purchase.
Then police found the van they were driving an hundreds of phones, but no mention of the people. So either the FBI has them and they're being sweated, or they never did capture them. We just don't know.
