WHEN I FIRST heard that Oliver Stone would be directing "World Trade Center," my stomach did a flip.
Stone's long career includes a few films that might be described as flawed. Less charitably they might be described as "propaganda." I'm thinking of his "JFK," which surrendered to witless assassination conspiracy theories, and "Born on the Fourth of July," which was passionately anti-war, as was the brilliant "Platoon."

Ditto and ditto.
Make that 3 of us who won't be seeing it.
The film-based politics of Hollywood are in the tank with me. I am very selective about the films I patronize. And this one will not be one of them.
I saw Stone, Cage, the other main actor, and the gentleman who the movie is about on MTV yesterday in a townhall style meeting with teens. Stone basically said "I thought we would no longer have war after Vietnam, and was surprised that we still did during the buildup of the military in the 80s and up to present day." War is a thing of the past in this numbskull's pea brain. What an ignorant boob. I was going to see the movie, but I am probably not, because he just doesn't get 'it'.
I went to the theaters to see "Seabiscuit" in 2003 and before that "Titanic" in 1997.
These days, it's a rare film that will get me to the theater to see it. I do want to see this film though. From all I've heard, Stone doesn't insert conspiracies or leftist propaganda - just the story of that day and 2 men who were rescued from the rubble.
That said, I have no desire to see "World Trade Center." "United 93" was incredible, and "WTC" cannot hold a candle to it.
I used to love going to movies, now I have to mentally prepare for weeks. I just despise the entire experience, and since most actors and actresses are so scornful of my political values and lifestyle, I figure there's no need to financially reward them. Let them sell their plasma for watered down bowls of soup for all I care.
Mostly my philosophy these days is: if a film doesn't have a giant gorilla, I'm not interested.
I've spent a total of $15 dollars on Oliver Stone: once when I bought a ticket to see JFK, and again to see Natural Born Killers. He will never get dollar one from me again, especially with something as important with the WTC attacks.
I'm sure it is much better than I had expected it to be, considering the comments and actions of Stone. I'll probably watch it on dvd.
