GOP USES HATED HILL TO VILIFY DEM FOES

August 7, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Republicans are invoking Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's name in races across the country in a bid to tar opponents by tying them to the former first lady.

Clinton, the Dems' likely 2008 front-runner, is being used in contests across the heartland to portray Democratic hopefuls as too liberal.

In Missouri, the state GOP blasted Democratic Senate hopeful Claire McCaskill as Clinton's "ideological twin."

"Hillary Clinton and Claire McCaskill don't represent Missouri values, and they know it," said party honcho Paul Sloca.

Arizona GOP boss Glenn Hamer invoked Clinton and hubby Bill to blast Democratic Senate upstart Jim Pederson.

They just got to be carefull of overkill.

Hillary Clinton is already paying the price for overexposure the way Dean sort of did.

After awhile, you do, and you will get diminishing returns.

Ricketts: "A Democratic Senate controlled by Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy promises an agenda of higher taxes, more government spending and liberal judges," he warned.

One of the smartest things I've seen the GOP do in ages. Just as with so many Republicans who've been spun into being boogeymen for no reason, just talking about HRC like she's the ultimate evil will only further get that definition to stick in people's minds.

Just telling people the simple facts isn't enough sometimes. Good old-fashioned labelling does have its uses.

Totally agree. Can't run on a ticket of hating Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton. I've told them that but it plays well in the strategy meetings. This is where you get the disconnect from those running the Party and those who are actually "living in the material world".

No one loathes these two more than me but at a certain point you realize hatred just empowers them.

One might refer to Hillary as a Democratic "tar baby".

Although, I agree with several others here in that her value as a boogyman will diminish with overuse. Sounds like some of our people are going to the well too often.

Besides, the Democrats own words and positions will damn them well enough if Republicans have the guts to call them on it. Save Hillary for herself when she runs in 08.

What if Chelsea married into the Kennedy Klan and ran for office? The sight of Chelsea Clinton-Kennedy on a ballot would make my head explode.

They already had a Boxer-Rodham. That didn't work out. Maybe Chelsea can marry one of the divorced Cuomo boys or find one of the Daley boys/girls to hook up with and further the power base.
