Mourners carry the coffins of Israeli Arabs Hanna Hamam, 62, and Ladida Mazzawi, 67, who were killed Sunday night in a Hezbollah rocket attack, during their funeral in the city of Haifa, northern Israel, Monday, Aug. 7, 2006. Hezbollah fired its deadliest rocket barrage Sunday on Israel, killing 12 Israeli reservists and three civilians. That brought the Israeli death toll to 94, including 46 soldiers, the 12 reservists and 36 civilians.

Assuming the council meets Wednesday, there will be further callups, which take time. The the troops have to assemble and be outfitted, more time. Then they have to make it to the front, figure on 5 mph, standard for large military formations dealing with civvies trying to use the same limited road network.

The you have the border crossing, then passage through existing lines, etc, etc, etc.

At any point in the chain, the UN or developments on the ground can and probably will cause further delays, if not stopping an offensive entirely.

A drive on the Lit is possible, but a lot of i's have to be dotted and t's crossed before it actually happens.

Haha - my wife has one of those little (pint?) plant sprayers. It can be adjusted to shoot out a jet of water: makes a pretty good small footprint squirt gun that doesn't need to be refilled too often. Anymore, if the cat gets up on the counter, all we have to do is reach in the direction of the sprayer and the cat scrams.

Now if only this would work on Hezbollah (or Iran). It just takes enough hits right between the eyes...

There have been over 110 rockets launched, Peretz says soldiers must be released as part of the terms for a cease fire, Reuters got caught lying again, Arab league, France and Russia are lobbying for changes to the draft agreement that will favor Lebanon more, the fighting is being threatened to intensify either wednesday or on the weekend, counting on whose report you listen to, the IDF chief of staff has sent his deputy to join the Northern Command, a possible signal of new intensity.

I live in abject terror of the day my cats stare calmly back at me, water dripping from their whiskers, as if to say, "Yeah, so what?"

I can think of better fluids than water for use on certain Iranians.

12 molar HCl, Drano, VX, etc.

WSJ: Scholar Warns Iran's Ahmadinejad May Have 'Cataclysmic Events' In Mind For August 22
Tue Aug 08 2006 10:22:35 ET

In a WALL STREET JOURNAL op-ed Tuesday, Princeton's Bernard Lewis writes: "There is a radical difference between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other governments with nuclear weapons. This difference is expressed in what can only be described as the apocalyptic worldview of Iran's present rulers."

"In Islam as in Judaism and Christianity, there are certain beliefs concerning the cosmic struggle at the end of time -- Gog and Magog, anti-Christ, Armageddon, and for Shiite Muslims, the long awaited return of the Hidden Imam, ending in the final victory of the forces of good over evil, however these may be defined."

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad "and his followers clearly believe that this time is now, and that the terminal struggle has already begun and is indeed well advanced. It may even have a date, indicated by several references by the Iranian president to giving his final answer to the US about nuclear development by Aug. 22," which this year corresponds "to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427. This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to 'the farthest mosque,' usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (c.f., Koran XVII.1).

"This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind."

Bush Cautious on Lebanese Proposal
17:41 Aug 08, '06 / 14 Av 5766

(IsraelNN.com) American President George W. Bush has reacted cautiously to the Lebanese proposal to deploy its troops in southern Lebanon, saying that "we must not create a vacuum into which Hizbullah and its sponsors are able to move more weapons."

The proposal by the Lebanese government, which includes five pro-Hizbullah ministers, came soon after Arab countries demanded that a proposed cease fire resolution include a clause that Israel withdraw all its forces. France has stated it is working to "improve" the resolution, but the Bush administration remained unenthusiastic and non-committal.

the news service incorrectly reported Tuesday afternoon that the IDF bombed a funeral procession in Lebanon.

I just saw video on Fox with a banner underneath that said that the IAF had hit a funeral procession. My comment to myself was that they obviously couldn't find a wedding party, but it seems from this report that Fox is continuing to report a falsity.

I have dyslexic fingers! Sorry.

Haven't seen this posted here, bloodcurdling: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1580295/posts. "Probe finds terrorists in U.S. 'training for war"

Peach, there's a reference to a SC training center, too.

When we lived in Michgian, I knew some of the organizers of the Michigan Militia. Remember when they were so demonized after OKC? They had nothing on this stuff!

BTW, I know the guy who was running the meeting the day Tim McVeigh showed up. As soon as Tim spoke, they adjourned the meeting, making him as a government 'plant.'

I just found one in my cabinet. I'm armed and ready but at the moment she's trying to annihilate a sock on the floor....oh, she must have killed it, because it appears it's now time for a nap.

Hi, Pinz. I hadn't realized all that - about McVeigh and the militia.

That link didn't work and I'd love to read it.
