The LCLI (Liberal Cost of Living Increase)
NRSC email ^ | August 7, 2006 | Mark Stephens

Let's Make Reid Red With Rage!!From the Desk of Mark Stephens, Executive Director, NRSC

Do you have your wallet handy? Well, you better . . .

. . . Let me tell you why.

The LCLI (Liberal Cost of Living Increase)

Anytime liberal Democrats take the reins of government, the American people must pull out their wallets and pay a price. It's the automatic Liberal Cost of Living Increase - the LCLI. You see it happen at the local level, state level and at the federal level.

Americans are feeling the squeeze of rising energy prices and escalating health care costs - but the LCLI will dwarf them all if Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, John Kerry and Barbara Boxer are successful in taking the reins of power in Congress.

Let's look at what would happen to your federal tax bill. Liberal Democrats fought the Bush tax cuts tooth and nail and have pledged to reverse them. What does that mean for you? Simple really -- YOUR TAXES WILL GO UP IF THE DEMOCRATS TAKE CONTROL OF CONGRESS.

Only you can stop the Democrats by continuing to send your personal support to the NRSC. If the liberals take over the Senate, this is our future:

  • The average American family of 4 with a total family income of about $65,000 per year (not rich folks) would have to send Washington another $2,000 per year in taxes.
  • Remember the marriage penalty? It's back under the Democrats - so if you're one of the 33 million Americans who benefit from the relief, get ready to pluck over more money.
  • Retired? On a fixed income? Are you receiving a private pension or income from saving all you could and investing wisely? Almost 14 million retirees get to pay more taxes under the Democrats too - about $2,000 more.
  • What about working families of modest income? Think Democrats in control of the Senate will help you? Think again. They would cut your child tax credit in half - so they can send Washington more of YOUR money, nearly $2,500 more.
  • Farmers, ranchers and small family business owners that would like to pass the rewards of your labor on to the next generation can forget about it under the Democrats. The inheritance tax (DEATH tax) will not be repealed -- it will increase! And if your heirs can pay the punishing tax bill when you die, they may be forced to sell off your land or the business you have built as a legacy for your family.

Those are just some of the direct hits on your family budget you would face under Democrat leadership in Congress. Close your eyes and you can clearly imagine the never-ending flow of green-colored paper leaving your wallet on its journey to the Washington bureaucracy.

The only way to keep your tax cuts in place and protect your hard-earned dollars is to help reelect a Republican Senate Majority NOW. Please make a personal contribution today.

The tax cuts so hated by Harry Reid and company - passed by a Republican Congress and signed by a Republican President - reinvigorated the American economy and have led to 57 straight months of economic growth and 34 straight months of increased job creation. They have helped create the highest rate of home ownership in American history.

We clearly can't afford to turn back now, raise taxes and shut down a growing economy.

So what would be the economic result of massive Democrat tax increases on the American people? I've detailed the direct cost to you - but what about the indirect cost to you of a declining economy? What does that do to your home value? What does that do to future energy prices? Food prices? The cost of clothes, college education and health care? What does that do to seniors on a fixed income? What about new job creation?

An economic disaster. If voters think the cost of living is tight now - imagine what will happen if the liberal Democrats get into your wallet.

And it could happen. It is a very real danger. Liberal Democrats across the nation are plenty motivated and are mobilizing. The Democrat leadership in Washington is utilizing liberals' anger and hatred of President Bush to raise tens of millions of dollars to attack Congressional Republican candidates, stir-up their activist base, and focus their efforts on getting their liberal grassroots base to the polls on election day.

We must respond with funds and feet. Money to get the truth to voters and feet to mobilize conservative and Republican grass roots in critical states. You can help. Every dollar you can send today will help us reelect our Senate Majority -- and protect the dollars of millions of Americans from punishing Democrat tax hikes!

Contribute Now

Failure to do so has many consequences - and one of those is a huge cost of living increase for all Americans - the LCLI. Please do you what you can. Thank you.

Mark Stephens
Executive Director,
NRSC

Heavy inflation now showing in raw materials. It has been building for some time. Oil is just one example.

Raw material inflation (according to Austrian School economic theory) is the final step before retail inflation. Seems likely to me, though the future is of course unknowable -

If this comes to pass I don't think income will remotely keep pace. Too much to the American "Liberal" advantage.

I am hearing increasingly Marxist talk amongst blue collar workers. Such people are sure that the high oil prices are caused by the rich and the rich people's President and the rich people's Republican Congress. The tremendous influx of south of the border types is caused by the Republicans intending to subjugate "everyday Americans", you know, "the working class", and reduce "us all" to day laborers, that is, to a "proletariat".

The Left project is to obliterate the middle class. "Bourgeois" ideas, culture, and politics must be destroyed, don't you know. "Dictatorship of the Proletariat" here we come.

I think more likely than 2nd, 3rd, and 4rth International type Marxism - Leninism is what Leninists call "fascism", that is, "socialism in one country." Mussolini followed by Hitler, that is.

The "logic 101" course offers nothing more than a simple example of transitivity. The problem with this logic unfolds because most Americans polled (usually restricted to current and recent employees of The New York Times because the unfolding severe economic crisis there renders broader polling utterly unaffordable) deeply desire to pay personally more taxes. Even those enormous hordes of former Times employees now destitute and starving in the streets throughout America still strongly embrace liberalism and blame their sorry state on President Bush. According to C-BS, these surveys accurately represent a cross-section of American public opinion (outside Oklahoma, a bubble of prosperity in a sea of depression).

On a more serious note, the "liberal cost of living increase" extends far beyond increased individual taxation to a socialistic regulatory burden that prevents companies that produce goods and services from adapting easily to changing times, increasing efficiency, and lowering their costs of doing business. Government-inflicted regulations and corporate and other business taxes (and "fees," a euphemism applied to certain random "taxes") cost companies more money to produce each unit of consumable goods and services. Companies then must either pass the economic burden to consumers in the form of higher prices; force their employees to bear the cost in the form of depressed wages and declining benefits; lose profitability and cause investors (often widows, orphans, and other ordinary people, not the tax-avoiding super-rich Massachusetts senator caste) to lose money; or capitulate to relatively unregulated Chinese slave-labor competitors.

Our economy simply cannot withstand significantly increased regulatory burdens that liberals would inflict upon it. If you really want to see the Great Depression unfold again before your eyes, elect liberals. The annals of history show that Herbert Hoover vastly increased government spending (with or without increasing taxes), turning a sharp market panic into a decade-long depression. A prosperous economy would result from a lessened regulatory burden on companies that produce actual goods and services for domestic or foreign consumption, lower taxes, and fewer trial lawyer parasites. Liberal socialist economics results in only inefficiency, stagflation, idiocy, malaise, melancholy, and misery--the yearning desires of any honest Democrat.

LOL. All you need now is Tiny Tommy Daschle popping up from the bottom of the frame along with some reference to Tommy's 'comeback plan', so we can all see what Hazardous Harry is so 'exercised' about.

Cannot stump you on a graphic

Rush used to have a great parody on his show after he lost his Senate seat and leadership position:

"This is the Tom Dasche Show"

"Anyone can call in now...."

"I'll be right back - I have to..."

(interlude music here)

"....All right! I'm Tom Daschle and this is the Tom Daschle Show!"

Yes.   I believe others, particularly in California, may have noticed the same thing...

Liberals are already costing average Americans billions by their failure to allow drilling in ANWR and other places. The lack of more oil on the market means higher prices at the pump. The next time some Dem or lib wails about the high price of gas, tell them to blame their own elected Dem leaders who continually vote down oil exploration and drilling.
