Since 2002, GE has spent $4 billion buying smaller businesses to take a bigger share of the $160 billion global security industry, a market that includes everything from building security to narcotics detection. The company expects $2 billion in revenue from its security businesses this year. That should rise to $2.8 billion in 2009, said Louis Parker, chief executive of GE's security unit.

Cressey said there are about 30 million video surveillance cameras in the United States shooting about four billion hours of footage every week. Relying more on computers to go through that footage would allow manpower to be better used elsewhere and perhaps lead to faster recognition of possible threats.

also developing programs that can recognize faces, pinpoint distress in a crowd by honing in on erratic body movements and synthesize the views of several cameras into one bird's eye view, as part of a growing effort to thwart terrorism.

We should always look for a third choice but sometimes we have to risk or even give our lives for our principles as Christians and/or Americans.
If we give up religious freedom in this country, we won't have the same country any more.

I was stunned at the klunky old technology we installed in airports to exray bags after 9/11. I expected something more like tis, "recognizing the electromagnetic waves given off by objects," There is a cost to allowing old men with bad wigs to serve in the senate until they are 100.

Agreed, I don't like where Big Brother is going. Screw the cameras and just eliminate the threat.

Very well put. The whole point of religious freedom in the US is that we don't kill or deport people just for their religious beliefs. I guess we COULD do that but then we'd just be the Christian Iran... Awesome!

Islam is a militant political and social movement. It is not a religion except as a disguise for the other stuff.

Well, one more 9/11 type terrorist attack in America and you know what you can do with your "principles."
Every Muslim swinging dick in America will have to pack up his koran & family and go back to whatever hellhole they originated from. Our ancestors didn't risk life & limb to come to this country just so a bunch of camel jockeys could come here, terrorize our women and children and make hamburger out of our families.
This is a world war and these muslim POS want you and your principles D...E...A...D !
And if they're not going to "take out their own trash" then we'll just have to do it for them!

If we give up religious freedom in this country, we won't have the same country any more. If enough muslims show up, you won't have a choice, except spiritual of course.

And so in your estimation every single person who identifies themself as Islam is a jihadist who wishes death to america?
To: gondramB
This is not about freedom of religion.
I'm Jewish and you don't see me having a problem with Christianity/Judaism/Buddhism/Induhism/Taoism/any other peaceful religion.
What it is about is a destructive doctrine/religion called "Islam".
Now, when a religion becomes so destructive that it literally threatens America and the free world as a whole, then the time has come to respond and respond swiftly.
Islam gravely threatens those same principles you are talking about. Muslims cannot co-exist. It's not in their religion, it's not in their dogma, and yes, it's not in their nature.
If you were to tell me Muslims would somehow miraculously become peaceful today/tomorrow/next year/ever, then I would certainly retract my statements against Islam and would have no problem living among Muslims in America. But, until that happens, and if it will ever happen (of which I'm doubtful), we should indeed deport Muslims until these sub-humans get their act together and learn to live peacefully among other freedom loving people. I'll accept them back with open arms when that happens, though I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen...

Yes, every "camel jockey" islamist wants me dead... christ
My life was perfect until that family with islamic beliefs moved into my neighborhood. (based on a true story)
Now they scream "death to america" every chance they get and crash planes into my duplex. Get a grip. Not all muslims are extremists just like not all christians are fundamental LDSers.
