HAVANA (AP) -- Leftist intellectuals and human rights activists from around the world pleaded with the United States on Monday not to interfere with Cuba while Fidel Castro recovers from intestinal surgery.
Many of the 400 signers of the open letter are from Latin America, and numerous Nobel Peace laureates are listed, such as former Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa and activist Rigoberta Menchu of Guatemala.

Huh? Assuming he's even still alive, what are we going to do to "mess around" with them?
To: james500
Leftist intellectuals and human rights activists from around the world . . . Two oxymorons before they're even halfway through the first sentence.
To: james500
At least the story clearly identifies that 'leftists" are trying to save Castro.
OK, now, after 40+ YEARS of Castro holding power, Bush is going to invade Cuba "now" ....
Don't these leftists ever think about what they say!?!?!?

Well, yes, but these "Hymen rights" activists had nothing to say about UN rapists and millions murdered in Africa.
But about the 400 held in Gitmo...
That's IT!
These leftists are afraid Bush is going to let the Gitmo POW's free to wage jihad against Castro!

I think it is about time that we "messed" with cuba. I would like to be able to get a legal cuban cigar for a change and I would like to see cuban farmers and cigar rollers make a decent wage for producing such a fine product.

On May 26, 1963, Oswald wrote to the
Fair Play for Cuba Committee and proposed "renting a small office at my own expense for the purpose of forming a FPCC branch here in New Orleans". Oswald was issued a membership card on May 29th, the same day he ordered 1,000 handbills from a local printer, they read
"Hands Off Cuba! Join the Fair Play for Cuba Committee, New Orleans Charter Member Branch, Free Literature, Lectures, Everyone Welcome!". Throughout his period of activity, Oswald was the sole member of the FPCC's New Orleans branch.
Hmmmm, where have we heard this before?
To: james500
I bet Jimmy Carter is on the list.

"Leftist intellectuals".... Oxymoron....of the first order.

Cuba is insignificant. It's only important to those on the left who want to point to socialism's "success" and those on the right who want this embarrassment to capitalism to go away.
Hugo Chavez is a much larger problem than the beggar nation 90 miles south of Florida.

Leftist intellectuals and human rights activists from around the world pleaded with the United States on Monday not to interfere with Cuba while Fidel Castro recovers from intestinal surgery. That's why we should do it; they need a thumb in the eye. They always need a thumb in the eye.

Why dignify this garbage with the courtesy of any kind of reply?
Neuter the "journalist" who tried to put the "turd" in our pocket...do it with blunt instruments and no anesthesia.
