Page 1 above the fold in yesterday's New York Times featured a photo (below) by our new acquaintance Adnan Hajj.
I suspect that not all is as it appears to be in the photo, and somehow doubt that Times readers will ever learn why that might be the case.
The Reuters caption reads: "A severely wounded Lebanese civilian is carried away on a stretcher at Maameltain bridge, after it was targeted by Israeli air strikes, in the north of Beirut August 4, 2006. (Adnan Hajj/Reuters)" (Thanks to reader David Butz.)

Notice his clean shirt in the foreground.
I love his clean specs too.

Good one. But I actually thought the guy at the right side next to the lifted hand was Ahmadinejad. THEN I looked at the left side! :)

That guy on the stretcher is Green Helmet!

And another view:
And another - this one clearly is looking southwards (note to the right, you can see the ocean and no hills:
And, once again, for comparision, the litter photo:
So, then, where are the palm trees in the other northward-facing photo?

A larger question is: What did Reuters know about these fabrications and when did they know them?
Could it be that Reuters as doing the photoshopping?

A Lebanese woman after seeing her destroyed apartment in a building that was targeted by Israeli air strikes in southern Beirut, July 24, 2006. (Adnan Hajj/Reuters)
Is this the standard "I lost my house" pose in Lebanon?

A rescuer carries the body of a toddler victim of an Israeli air raid on Qana that killed more than 60 people, the majority of them women and children, in south Lebanon, July 30, 2006. REUTERS/Adnan Hajj (LEBANON)
So can anyone explain the story of this Green Helmet dude? This is the first I've heard of him.

Otay, I see where the palm trees are now. Down the median.
Which means this guy is a good 50 yards away from the bridge at this point - you can also see the small blue sign on the right-hand hillside in both pictures. But that makes something else very wrong. Look at the roadway to the right in the first picture - where would someone stand to be substantially lower than the litter and the photogs in the background? Nowhere. He's not being lifted up onto something - you can see the legs of the photographer in the striped shirt. So why on earth would someone in a litter end up in this position a long distance away from the road and not being lifted up into something?
This reeks of a superimposition of one image onto a background.

it could be a wheeled litter. There is no sign of any support structure under the injured man.

Ummm..its quite easy for somebody to get blown back quite aways from a bomb..indeed he could have been blown off the bridge down into the gully or whatever it is which would explain the amount of carriers and the odd angle to the trees...I honestly dont think there is any fakery here.

And I'll say one other thing - that guy SURE as heck does not look the least bit Lebanese. I've know a few in my life - that dude looks more African.

They must have a pretty big sack of gray make up dirt.
While concrete dust can be gray or white, all the shots of the bridge show orange to reddish dirt and gravel sized and larger concrete rubble.
If he had been near the blast, he should be pretty chewed up by the small rocks.
Plus, he is the wrong color of dirty--should be some reddish dirt in there.
