TALLAHASSEE - Already lagging in the polls and facing possible ethics violations, Republican Tom Gallagher suffered another setback Friday, finishing dead last in fundraising among the four candidates for governor.
Gallagher's $45,740 in so-called hard dollars raised during July trailed fellow Republican Charlie Crist by nearly $290,000 and leading Democrat Jim Davis by about $150,000. Democrat Rod Smith raised twice as much as Gallagher.
Friday's news raised fresh speculation among Republican insiders about whether one of Florida's longest serving politicians will drop out of his fourth and likely last run for governor.
Gallagher, the state's chief financial officer, is trailing by double digits in polls and last week the state Ethics Commission found probable cause that he violated state law when he bought stock in four companies that either had state contracts or were regulated by his office. A hearing will be scheduled in the weeks ahead.

In the past Tom may have been more moderate on guns, but I 've noticed that over the years his perspective has certainly "matured". Today he's much more supportive of a wider range of firearms rights.
I heard Gallagher speak a year before announcing as a candidate for the governorship and I found his positions to be pro-traditional marriage and pro-life.
Recently Crist said he would have voted for state funding of embryonic stem cell research....which is certainly not the position of Jeb, the President and true conservatives.
Some of his statements to the press have appeared ambivalent on same sex 'unions' and adoption.
I prefer a businessman with financial expertise like Gallagher as governor rather than a lawyer like Crist.
This is nonsense. "As I agree to what you say I also think we are a society heading downhill when a person's rating is based on the amount of money he raises." Voluntary contributions are a good measure of popular support. Please don't bother me with a bunch of "know-it-alls" who are too good to kiss babies and shake possums.
I don't know much about either man. However, if I had to vote on the basis of their ad campigns, I would pick Christ. Gallagher seems demogogic to me. Also he just sent me a bumper sticker out of the blue with no info, at all. Harris is doing a very good job of following up on contribution with newsletter, by contrast.
Headline is false. Nobody's dropping out as of this post.
Crist is a liberal.
You should pick up a Tampa Tribune sometime. They are up to the minute on all things political and of importance to Floridians. They may lean sometimes but they never print FALSE HEADLINES.
You're beginning to sound like a broken record. But if you love the Tampa Tribune so much, then why don't you read the article about Gallagher's ethical problems from last week's beloved Tampa Tribune. Then, you will clearly see that Gallagher HAS not been cleared of all ethical wrongdoing, as you have reapeatedly (and erroneously) posted on this thread. As for the false headlines, you should read the original article, which details speculation that Gallagher would, in fact, drop out of the race. You're correct, it hasn't happened yet, (and it still may not), but that doesn't make the headline fasle.
Partnered with Stetson Law School of course. The FLAG Office is already infiltrated with lefties. They want to get into the governor's mansion for more perks.
Tom Gallagher who's been side by side w/Jeb Bush during our hurricanes or Crist who they stuck on a helicopter to keep him out of Jeb's pressers?
Tom Gallagher was there w/Jeb, not Crist.
Crist comes across as a lightweight waffler, not a take charge kind of guy.
What if we have another Mariel boat lift due to Castro's recent health problems? Crist already said he would leave immigration matters up to the feds. Condi Rice said "don't come here." Like that is really going to stem that gathering crisis.
So, that's that.
The way Crist will achieve less government is by making a habit of deferring to the feds instead of by leading.
Crist is.
The Gallagher camp is very pleasant and it sounds like you have never visited his web site or emailed them to see how accommodating and organized they are.
Brett Dozier was Jeb Bush's campaign manager and works for Tom G. Crist's campaign mgr is a developer's son. Crist is fuzzy on eminent domain - gee, wonder why.

then someone should alert the motorcyclists of Florida.
The AARP is very anti biker since most of their members are the responsible ones in motorcycle vs car accidents.
I can't find any jpegs of Jeb and Crist together that aren't staged at a photo op. Gee, wonder why.
LOL, do you know what Brett Doster's dad does for a living, since you seem to have it out for real estate developers? I also love how you are now discussing real issues, like candidate web sites and what the dad's of the campaign managers do for a living.
And, Crist was one of the first people to spearhead new laws following the Kelo decision. He is in no way weak on eminent domain. In fact, that has been one of his main issues. Do you have any links to back up your point? Or are you simply going to say, "Because Donald Trump donated money to his campaign, and Donald Trump once used eminent domain, therefore Charlie Crist must support eminent domain use for private purposes?"

And don't get me started on New Jersey donations to Charlie Crist. They are multi-national donations. Open your eyes!
You can do that. If they are injured, Crist will pull their feeding tubes and dehydrate them. It's a double threat for bikers.
How many times to you plan on being dead wrong in the same thread? I'm convinced you are just making up stuff to try and make Gallagher look better, with no regards to the truth. You have been completely wrong about Gallagher's ethical violations, Crist's stance on eminent domain, Gallagher's "pro-NRA" record, etc. You even get personal and blame Crist's campaign manager for having a father who is a developer, when the EXACT same could be said for Gallagher. Then you go on and talk about Crist's developer contributions, and apparently have decided to ignore Gallagher's. (You can see those totalling about 500K in his 527). If you aren't going to be even minimally accountable for the accusations you throw around, then please do everyone a favor and stop posting. If you're wrong, just admit it, and stop continuing to spread pro-Gallagher propaganda. You can start by FINALLY addressing the issues that you have been ignoring all day. Let's start with the ethical violations..........any time you're ready.
