The attacks may re-open discussions in the government and in the IDF on whether to launch a final push to the Litani River.
----
Let us hope it does. Israel needs to have a very strong position from which to bargain or fight from. They need to control the range zone for the long range missles as well. Strategically, it would be a good move. Screw the U.N. - Israel needs to do what is best for its survival position. Let's see how they call this one!!

Nah...
Any UN-brokered ceasefire would be one-sided. The world expects Israel to "turn the other cheek" until they run out of cheeks and are eradicated from the face of the earth.

"European countries attacked Kosovo and killed 10 thousand civilians. Ten thousand! And none of these countries had to suffer before that from a single rocket," he said. "I'm not saying it was wrong to intervene in Kosovo. But please: Don't preach to us about the treatment of civilians." Ol You're darn tootin , they did. And I remember a NATO jet blowing up a train full of civilians crossing a bridge.

Israel is going to pay for his weakness in blood.

To paraphrase an equally beseiged President of an earlier time: UN Resolutions are not a suicide pact.

If the Israelis stop now, this all turns into a big nothing for them. I can't believe they would do that, at least willingly. This ceaseless campaign with no ground gained or lost but endless casualties has to end.
To: SmithL
It is possible to destroy their arsenal. Israel has the means to deprive them of attacking Israel. The open question is whether Israel's leaders have the will to make that happen.

There's only one stance that will stop the missiles, and that is if Israel announces that any place a missile is fired at them from will automatically be annexed permanently and irrevocably into Israel and all the residents therein expelled.

See it to it's conclusion or the terrorists win.

A U.N./NATO/European force, guarding the buffer zone in Lebanon would no doubt one day head straight for Israel to bomb and attack them, them, like they did to Kosovo.

Should Ohlmert not destroy the enemy, the Israelis will find out how quickly history repeats itself!

"the Lebanese government, the Lebanese army, with the assistance of the international community, wants to extend its authority and make certain that arms are held by Lebanese security forces and not by militias. Those are obligations that they've undertaken not just to the international community but to the Lebanese people." Looks like this administration is never going to learn. This kind of talk reminds him of how after the first battle of Fallujga US Marines supplied (against thier will) weapons to the "local militia" which was suppose to drive out the terrorists. LOL, buy a clue Condi, you are being had again.

They need a Sherman's March to Beirut. From there, they can start the negotiations.

"They are beaten, but it is not possible to completely destroy them," he said of Hizbullah. Kill every muslim in Lebanon and Hizbullah goes away as a local threat.

Oh, and Clintoon depleted our supply of cruise missles at the time by supplying most of them to NATO.
