I miss Rocky's. Peachtree at 26th in Atlanta. Real wood-fired brick ovens and toppings you don't find everywhere. Feel free to mock white pizza with prosciutto and artichoke hearts, but try it first.
Rocky's closed in 2003 when the owner shot himself during a standoff with police (not at the restaurant). So it's not only a good pizza memory, but it could be a blues song.

No Contest: If you are ever in Iowa City, go to Pagliagi's Pizza on Bloomington Street. It is a family-owned pizza joint where the pizzas are constructed in a picture window so folks walking by can see the goin's on. Awesome, melt-in-your-mouth, garlicky pizza that is out of this world. Take my word for it - I've been a Freeper for almost 7 years and am to be trusted!! However, the people in Iowa City are a lost cause, totally liberal left-wing nut-jobs. But Pagliagia's pizza is to die for!

"Of course....a pizza place near ASU is kind of a shoe in. The students will flock to it!"
The recipe is largely based on the pizza from Pizzaria Regina in Boston's Italian North End. There have been 2 hour lines to get one.

L&B Spumoni Gardens on 86th Street Brooklyn. Get the squares. It's worth the price and the wait. (Don't get the round pie -- they're fine, but nothing special and not worth the extra trip.)
