This is a week or so old but I find the Russia-Iranian-Syrian connection especially relevant today.

Pretty amazing stuff. I was just reading another ministry basically saying the same thing.

What's pretty amazing is that someone who was a repeated, abject, and complete failure as a forecaster is still taken remotely seriously.

The problem with Hal Linsey and his type is that they point to some prophetic scripture and then use a SHOWHORN to make it fit the current event of the day. Then of course, after the fact, they NEVER go back and say "Whoops, we blew that one big time." No, it just more prognostications, again and again. Never any mention of how completely wrong they were with the last 87 'predictions/pronouncements'.

Hal got kicked off of the Trinity Broadcasting networks because he had the audacity to tell the truth about Islam. I think he has some private satellite broadcast, but I have not been able to find it.

Yes he is, locally anyway (he now lives over in Palm Desert). He devotes more of his program's time, however, to begging funds.

I'm reading the same thing in a Joel C Rosenberg book right now. Russia and Iran plotting our death! Scary!

This is not news. I have been saying it for years. Only a naive person would see the Russians as our friends.

Deliverance from Oslo curse? By Hal Lindsey

New Years Eve I predicted that something would happen to Ariel Sharon that would facilitate Benjamin Netanyahu to become the new prime minister. Though I am very sorry to hear of Sharon's massive stroke, it appears that it will facilitate Netanyahu replacing him in the next election.

Some more Hal Linsey prediction:

" When I talked to knowledgeable people about Netanyahu getting elected, no one gave him a chance. My friend and astute news analyst Morris Beschloss thought it was virtually impossible. I said to him, "Just watch. I believe God will move events around so that 'Bibi' Netanyahu will be elected." He now believes along with me that this is a real probability.

What actually happened:

Exit poll: Kadima 30 seats, Labor 19, Likud 10 The Likud has sunk to the smallest number of seats in its history in today's Knesset election. Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu is the third largest party. Globes correspondent 28 Mar 06 22:04

Strategerist's Law: People have an infinite capacity to forgive failed predictions if the prediction was what they wanted to hear at the time.

That's the typical application of inductive argument technique. The first act is to announce a conclusion that one desperately wishes to be true. Next, search for something in previously written texts or honored books by recognized philosophers. Step three is to proclaim that the eagerly wished-for conclusion has been foreeen and documented by (here fill in the authority) and therefore biblical prophesy is a valid component in the making of our foreign and military policy.

In other times the small cadre of agenda driven folks like Linsey and the political preachers would be merely a humorous side show. Today, they're actually dangerous because they control the wind-up key for our president.

I do believe in bible prophecy. I just am very skeptical of the majority of those who make a living in applying/interpreting it.
