Alarmed by newspaper reports that a hurricane memorial in St. Bernard Parish will feature a cross bearing a likeness of the face of Jesus, the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana is reminding parish officials of the Constitution's separation of church and state.
Never one to back down, Parish President Henry "Junior" Rodriguez has a simple reply: "They can kiss my ass."
In a July 28 letter to Rodriguez and other officials, Louisiana ACLU Executive Director Joe Cook said that the government promotion of a patently religious symbol on a public waterway is a violation of the Constitution's First Amendment, which prohibits government from advancing a religion.
Rodriguez did not say whether he has responded to Cook's letter, but in an interview, he said he sees nothing improper about the memorial, which will be mounted near the shoreline of the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet at Shell Beach. The cross and accompanying monument listing the names of the 129 parish residents who died in Hurricane Katrina are earmarked for what the parish says is private land and are being financed with donations, Rodriguez said.
Nonetheless, Cook asked the parish to erect a religiously neutral symbol and also voiced concern that the Parish Council was sanctioning a religious monument.

If it turns out the land is government property, then sell it to a private party for one dollar. And if the ACLU can't come up with a photograph proving what Jesus looked like, then they obviously don't know that it is in fact "a likeness of the face of Jesus". Tell Mister Cook it is a likeness of the face of Karl Marx and he'll go back to his office feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
The ACLU will be hard pressed to produce witnesses that will attest that this is actually the face of Jesus.
Let's put a bounty on them.
There is one good thing about the "good 'ol boys" of the South - they don't take crap - from anyone. Not even the ACLU. The ACLU should think twice before they "interfere" in certain areas, lol.
"They can kiss my ass."
A statement that sums up my philosophy about a lot of groups. ACLU wouldn't be first in line but they would be dang close.
"LOL! I guess he knew the reply "Nuts" was taken.
(for the kids, that's what the surrounded Americans said in
response to a German demand for surrender at Bastogne in WWII.)"
I've always heard that what he really said consisted of two words, the first one starting with 'F'.
Then it got cleaned up for the US newspapers.

"...Rodriguez has a simple reply: "They can kiss my ass." "
I'm going to take that in the same spirit as Christ kicking the moneychangers out of the temple.
Actually, the "cleansing of the temple" had to do with the "First Fruits" doctrine. Here we have something more akin to a judicial execution ~ the sort of thing Jesus suffered ~ even though no wrong has been done. ACLU just loves to play the part of Pilate AND the Sanhedrin doncha know!
Don't mess with Junior.

Eventually, they(ACLU) are going create a

Hunting Season, in the hearts and minds of the
ameican people..
The ACLU are enemies of Humanity...They want
us all to be docile slaves to their souless
and depraved wills. They hate those who execise
Freedom in any way that re-enforces the human spirit.
To hell with those authoritarian assholes that are the ACLU!
"Never one to back down, Parish President Henry "Junior" Rodriguez has a simple reply: "They can kiss my ass." "
While they're at it, they can kiss mine too!
"The cross and accompanying monument listing the names of the 129 parish residents who died in Hurricane Katrina are earmarked for what the parish says is PRIVATE land and are being financed with DONATIONS, Rodriguez said. "
Kiss mine again - ACLU!
I second that motion.
Amerikan Communist Liars Union
They discussed the ACLU on Fox this morning and invited people to e-mail them about the subject. you should have heard some of them. People are getting fed up with what they are doing and I hope something is done about that bunch of terrorrist.
