After all is said and done, what if the woman finds herself in a family way? Does the Muslim man still have no responsibilities towards the woman? Does he just shrug his shoulders and walk away -- figuring it's her problem? If so, why in the world would ANY woman get involved in one of these "mut'ah" marriages?
Given that most couples don't bother getting married in Western Society,over half of all kids being born out of wedlock in London, and our casual divorce rate being up to the roof, I'm not sure this abuse is something peculiar to Islam - it could be argued that at least they are honest about the time limited arrangement. A little controversy to brighten the day....hey wot?
Oh, I don't know if it's that unattractive to women, it seems pretty common in the lower, socio-economic rungs of the U.S. The odd thing is the mohammedans go through the problem of drafting a contract to begin with. I suppose it's to prevent the real wife/wives from being gypped so to speak.....

In such cases the child is considered his legitimate child, with equal rights for support and inheritance. But the temporary wife has no right to support after the contract has expired.
It's common among divorced women (men have a very easy time dumping wives in Islam), who have no education or skills and therefore no other way to survive once dumped. Many of them have female children to support, since failure to produce male children is a common reason for divorce in Islam, and those daughters are also likely to become prostitutes.
Dowries from the bride's family are also SOP in many of these countries, and daughters of poor families, or families with many daughters can't marry them off, hence they wind up as prostitutes.
"Mut'ah" is simply religiously sanctioned prostitution, no matter how they try to window-dress it.
So despite the Burka's, the veils, and all that other crap these people avow they find loopholes in their beloved Koran so they can get their ashes hauled.The woman egts laid and is tossed aside.
Does it happen in America? Sure but the women here have a choice and doesnt have to face all that hypocritical BS the Islamics are putting out.

It's getting better. In various islamic countries this mut'ah loophole permits men to have "spare wives" (up to four, in total) outside his household, that he can visit when it suits him. The care for the offspring of these relations is not his responsibility, as it is not specifically stated in the islamic scriptures. Thus, you get a whole lot of children, that are not cared for, not really wanted, and therefore fair game for those that recruit fresh intakes of jihadi's. See? It's a well-planned agenda.

The late Ayatolla Khomeini (yes, that one) wrote a book called "Tahirol Vasileh", with all sorts of wonderful things that are supposedly allowed in the islamic realms, including sexual relations with young children. After combining a wide range of information, I could come to only one single conclusion. Children that hade been subjected to neglect and sexual abuse, often grow up to be full of frustrations and anger, suffering a very low self-esteen throughout the process. Everybody knows that, you do, I do, the Ayatolla did and so do all muslims. That's bad enough as it is, but it's a good thing if you need big numbers of ruthless fighters without any concept of proportionality, for an upcoming war against an enemy that supposedly represents the forces of evil. Being uneducated and gullible, these kids are ideal candidates for the jihad.

Combine this with the practice of "forced marriage" (i.e. arranged by the family against the girl's will), and you have some pretty ugly stuff.
I politely declined a proposal to marry a Turk in 1965. That's one decision I have never regretted.

Apparently from the paragraph above there seems to be some differences, but it is not entirely clear to me what they are.
The more I am informed of the quaint practices sanctioned by this 'Religion' the more I am disgusted by it.
In Hughes 19th century "Dictionary of Islam" Mut'ah was a marriage contract approved by Shias but outlawed by Sunnis. Burkhardt claims the practice is older than Islam itself and was practiced by bedu who provided travellers a woman for the night.
