A year ago, August 2005, I reported Par amount was doing a movie about 9/11. I reported then it's a no-win.
We're talking sacred ground. The massacre heard 'round the world. Each month still brings new grief and lawsuits. Over the building. Over the plans. Over the illnesses. Over the proposed memorial site. Over the human remains at Staten Island's Fresh Kills dumpsite.

I'm hoping that this film takes a nose-dive at the box office. An explotitive farce cloaking itself in a patriotic mask.

I've heard some pretty good things about the movie. Are you basing your judgement on the fact it's a Stone film?

i disagree with you. though i will not see it because it is still too emotional for me, i think many people have simply forgotten what that day was like, or have convinced themselves it was some sort of government plot. so many people think that terrorism isn't a threat over here. i hope this film reminds them, even though it's a stone movie.

wow....you are the first one to say that....every single conservative that has seen it says it's great..and that they were surprised since it was directed by Oliver Stone...Michael Medved liked it...Brent Bozell from the Media Research Center who if you know him, would have massacred this film if it showed the least hint of liberal B.S....Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Praeger.....they all loved it and said it was an awesome film......patriotic and heart warming....I've not heard one bad word from any conservative....what about this film did you not like?
To: Zeroisanumber
I think if it were anti-Bush they would say something like Why did it take so long. I've heard the movie is actually very good.

I've heard some pretty good things about the movie. Are you basing your judgment on the fact it's a Stone film? I think that this recent crop of BIG, IMPORTANT, Hollywood 9/11 films are all exploitive at their core. Money grubbing on the part of Hollywood, and masochistic scab-picking on the part of the audience.

It's too soon! It's too soon! But Fat Michael Moore's 9/11 film wasn't. [Expletive deleted] liberals.

I will never trust the communist stone with my time or money.Stone is not a communist. He just plays one on TV. He, like the rest of the hypocrites out there, sell tickets to their movies, promote prouducts, and worship the almighty dollar...

...nope...don't think so either....many FReepers make the mistake of criticizing without really knowing the facts.. almost all Daily Kos'ers do...haha.....I for one always read and listen to my enemy....I don't assume anything

To be honest, Stone has done a fair job with a few topics. Foremost in my mind are the Vietnam War, and the Kennedy Assasination. Platoon and JFK were both quite entertaining and IMO somewhat objective in scope.

Cindy appears to be getting grouchier as she gets older. She used to be more oblique with her witticisms. Now she just slams stuff and people. That isn't very entertaining. Maybe time for her to move on.

Money grubbing on the part of Hollywood, and masochistic scab-picking on the part of the audience.Yes, we wouldn't want to remember that day would we? Better to just forget it? I think not!!!
SO you think that anyone who goes to see it is a masochistic scab picker? Well I did not choose to live through that day the first time, but none of us had any choice. Do you think the same of us that watched the news over and over that day and in the days following?
