Undeterred after a week of bad news for her floundering U.S. Senate campaign, Rep. Katherine Harris vowed Thursday she would win and urged supporters not to get discouraged.
"We'll win, so don't listen to the prognosticators, or the pollsters - you can make a poll say anything you want," Harris told about two dozen people at a luncheon.
Earlier this week, a letter from state Republican Party leaders was disclosed that said they could not support her because she can't win. Also, former campaign staff revealed that Harris didn't tell them the campaign received a subpoena as part of a federal corruption investigation.
She says she's not paying attention.
"Every Republican event I go to, I get their overwhelming support," Harris said afterward. "When people hear our message and they know what we stand for, rather than all the caricatures that are created, then we know we're going to win."
Harris, a Republican, has trailed Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson in most polls. Fundraising has been slow, GOP leaders tried desperately to find another candidate, and core campaign staff members have quit in recent months.
She has received more attention for $32,000 in illegal contributions she took from a defense contractor who pleaded guilty to bribing another congressman than she has on the issues.
People who once worked for her question why she's hasn't bowed out.
"I believe the reason she's running are two," said former campaign manager Jim Dornan. "She doesn't believe ever that she has done anything wrong and she has an ego that's so outsized it won't allow her to think in a reasonable manner."
The fact that she endured massive criticism during her role overseeing the 2000 presidential recount as Florida's secretary of state may contribute to her belief that she can win, said Virginia Sapiro, a University of Wisconsin political science professor who specializes in political psychology.
"She weathered an incredible onslaught during the 2000 election and she won," Sapiro said. "She was mocked and made fun of, but she won."
Sylvia McClendon, who attended the First Coast Federated Republican Women luncheon, has read what Bush and state party leaders have said about the Harris campaign, but it doesn't matter to her.
"They may honestly feel like she can't win, but I think she can. If she gets the response that I've seen her get, I think she can be victorious. I really do," she said.

Frontliner; not long ago we had a half of dozens, so called FReeper, who constantly were spamming and smearing Ms. Kathrine Harris on every "drive-by" L.S.M.' news articles, that mainly is anti-Kathrine Harris they could get their "hands" on!
The moderators finally caught up with them and gave them a strong warning!!
After your flip-flopping stand, exactly like j.sKerry does, you're stretching the rubber band equally bad, and has replaced them by your promotion of boy McBride here, who no one knows anyway!!!
Please do us a favor to move your McBride campaign away from threads about Kathrine Harris and create your own McBride thread, fair enough?
JulieRNR21 has politely urged you to do so. Also, to get an intelligent reading of your post, you need to learn a little, just a tiny little bit about HTML!??!
If you really have to ask that question, I'm have serious doubts about you.
Let's put it this way...an unpopular candidate at the top of the ticket (any party, any state) turns-off voters so badly that the same candidate also turns off voters in races below theirs (Congress, state legislature, etc).
Trust me, it happens.
On another thread:
During the forum, Harris told the audience that she won't, quote, "kowtow to the liberal media or the Republican elite."
HARRIS: As for the polls, we laugh at the polls. You can make polls say anything you want. When I ran statewide for Secretary of State, I was down 30 points. One was 20. So we did it before, we can do it again. All of our data shows when we turn out our base, we'll win with 53 percent. We can take this U.S. Senate seat.
GOTV = That's the ticket!
YOur a TROLL ZOT THIS DEMORAT!

No we don't think that the White House has anything to do with this!
We believe it originates from the "drive-by" L.S.M's anti Kathrine Harris bashing and the lib's pro-propaganda for bill nelson. THEY know that K.H. is a "killer for them, and therefore they continue with all possible effort to smear Kathrine Harris, exactly the same way they daily are bashing our President. Unfortunately, also by the help of some so called Freepers who have drunk tooooo much of the lib's kool-aid!!
The above photo is from a recently bill signing; does it NOT looks like Ms. Harris is...very, VERY... close to the President Bush? Hmmmm!!!!
It's like going to a Miami Dolphin's game here with the New York Jets. You will see more "green" jerseys in the stands rooting for N.Y. than rooting for the Dolphins!!!
Go figure; same mentality when it comes to a REAL conservative Senate candidate???
WHO, please???

Didn't the clinton's "stole" that election by the help of Perot/Rollins?
Who would have dream that incumbent Dascle would be unseated in 2004??
Please see my posts 129, 130. And thank you for an uplifting intelligent posting from out of the State of Florida. We need more of the same totally sane wisdom to get Ms. Kathrine Harris elected as our new Junior Senator for Florida!!!
How do you know that; have you ever met her???
I have, and she certainly come off as one.
Have you also read the book "center of The STORM"?
How long were your conversation with Ms. Harris??
With her swearing in on January 7, 2003, as U.S. Representative for the 13th District of Florida, Katherine Harris opened the newest chapter in her distinguished career of public service to her native state. With key appointments to the House Financial Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee and the International Relations Committee, Rep. Harris is continuing her work on behalf of Florida with a strong focus on economic and national security issues. The diligence and determination she has shown in Washington is no surprise to the Floridians who elected her Florida state senator, as well as to a term as Floridas 23rd and last elected secretary of state. Rep. Harris helped shepherd Florida toward its future as an international leader in economic and foreign affairs, while serving as steward over its past through advocacy on behalf of the states libraries, historic preservation and the arts. Acting upon her commitment to expand quality, affordable housing opportunities for low income Americans, Rep. Harris became a member of the Financial Services Committees Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity. One of her first bills was the American Dream Downpayment Act, an innovative plan to help tens of thousands of low-income families and individuals to achieve the American dream of homeownership. Signed into law by President Bush in December 2003, this program will provide a means for Americans to build not only wealth, but also a brighter future for their families. As a member of the International Relations Committee, Rep. Harris commitment to trade and national security issues is unparalleled. From Colombian narco-terrorism to comprehensive reform of foreign aid funding, Rep. Harris has brought a new vision to foreign relations. The first bill Rep. Harris co-sponsored in Congress demonstrated her concern for the men and women who provide and protect our cherished freedoms. Mindful of representing a district with one of the largest veterans populations, she sought the repeal of a century-old federal law that forces military retirees with service-connected disabilities to forgo a portion of their retirement benefits in order to continue receiving their disability compensation. Dedicated to serving the veterans in life and death, Rep. Harris unwillingness to take no for an answer led to the construction of a much-needed new national cemetery in the Sarasota region. In recognition of her achievements during her first term in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Harris has received the U.S. Chamber of Commerces Spirit of Enterprise award, the Military Order of the World Wars Silver Patrick Henry Medallion for patriotic achievement, and the Jewish & Family Service of Sarasota-Manatee, Inc.s Philanthropy Award. Rep. Harris has also been named to the Southern Economic Development Councils Honor Roll of Legislative Achievement in Economic Development. During her term in the Florida state senate, Rep. Harris passed over one hundred bills, including an economic development package that helped fuel Floridas dramatic rise from 42nd place to 1st place in the nation as a state to start a new business or grow an existing business; a significant increase in teacher salaries; and stiffened penalties for white collar crime and for crimes committed against the elderly. Cognizant of the tremendous economic benefits trade could bring to Floridians, Rep. Harris laid the strong foundation for Floridas preeminent campaign to win the Permanent Secretariat for the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), as well as working toward the unification of the Gulf region through the enhancement of investment, trade and tourism and cultural exchanges. Rather than taking cover in the aftermath of the 2000 election controversy, Rep. Harris took the lead in the push for comprehensive election reform. In 2001, she testified before the U.S. House Administration Committee and proposed legislation that became the blueprint for Floridas nationally acclaimed Election Reform Act. In 2002, as the reform movement waned in many states, she successfully proposed and achieved passage of historic civil rights legislation in Florida that forcefully addresses the exclusion of persons with disabilities from full and equal participation in the electoral process. A former IBM marketing executive and vice president of a commercial real estate firm, Rep. Harris earned a Masters Degree from Harvard University with a specialization in international trade and negotiations, and a Bachelors Degree in history from Agnes Scott College. She studied abroad at the University of Madrid and at LAbri outside Geneva, Switzerland. Her commitment to public service has earned Rep. Harris numerous awards, including the Mel Fisher Award for International Trade Advocacy; the Florida Economic Development Council Legislator of the Year Award; the Florida United Business Association Outstanding Legislator Award; the Florida Arts Advocacy Award, the Sarasota Humanitarian of the Year Award and the Sarasota Statesman of the Year Award. Rep. Harris was born in Key West, Florida. She resides in Sarasota with her husband, Anders Ebbeson, and his 21-year-old daughter, Louise.

Hmmmm!!!!
Katherine Harris is a total ditz.
I don't watch/read/listen to the LameStream Media, so no idea where you came up with that wacky idea.
