Aug 2nd was the first Wednesday of the month. Another opportunity for Freepers to counter protest moonbats in South Carolina! Columbia had turned into a traffic Hades that day and I was running late just sitting in traffic that was not moving. I needed to get to my weekly post on time since I was hoping to see some fellow Freepers. I decided to hoof it and parked a few blocks away. I joined my friend Amy who I have been informed is a Lurker since she is not yet a Freeper. JOIN, Amy, we need you!! As we turned the corner, we saw about four of the moonbats quickly rush to take the spot we normally took. Last year we came to an agreement that we would stand to the side of them. Last week we got so many beeps from passerbys that they decided to move in and try to block our signs. This week they went right to our spot while leaving a few other moonbats to secure their center position on the sidewalk, ( Isnt it funny how quickly moonbats will fight to protect sidewalk space, but how slow they are to fight to protect their nation?) I decided that since they wanted to take our spot we would be happy to take theirs. We quickly marched right in front of them and took center stage in that intersection. Their strategy had backfired. I guess when you are against any type of war you are bound to suck at strategy. I hoped other Freepers would show up and I was not disappointed. Across the street I saw Tax Relief waving American Flags with her Freedom Isnt Free sign. Her son had joined in and had the Footprint of the American Chicken sign (matching the peace signs of the moonbats). Upchuck was waving a flag and there with the most adorable dog I have ever seen. Snoopy is a real Freeper to stand that heat!! Horns beeping, thumbs up, and cheers killed the silent vigil. Tax Relief later said the horns didnt really start until I showed up with the Honk to Support Iraqi Freedom sign. I really piss the moonbats off when not only do they have to put up with the beeps, but they also have to deal with my VERY loud (former 6th grade teacher) voice shouting Thank you to all beeps. I particularly enjoyed the beeps that occurred when an ABC cameraman from the news studio across the street came over and began to interview the freaks. He interviewed a 60 some odd year old woman (no doubt a Vietnam protester throwback). During her comments she called the president a fascist. HAA! This is the same group that sponsored a picnic for Cuba a few weeks back!! The cameraman made his way across the street to interview Tax Relief. Upchuck then told the cameraman he should go back and interview me. He said he would, but instead interviewed another moonbat for about 5 minutes. He also asked to interview the old lady he questioned first. Unfortunately, (can you just imagine the sarcastic tone in my voice here?) she had left for a class. Isnt that just like a moonbat? Stay in college FOREVER, and learn NOTHING!!! The beeps and cheering continued. There was even a minor fender bender from a distracted sign reader. ( The police paperwork continued even as we left to share a pizza.) A bike cop stopped by and asked about permits. He was not trying to hassle us, in fact he was a fan of our cause. I wont say his name, but thanks, Officer! As we left for a bite to eat (Thanks, Tax Relief!), I knew we had again accomplished supporting our brave troops (and ticking off a few moonbats).
