After months of slowly climbing in the polls, Republican Dick DeVos now leads incumbent Governor Jennifer Granholm (D) 48% to 42% (see crosstabs). Granholm had a very slight edge in last months survey 44% to 42%.
Though the polls have been close since February, this is the first Rasmussen Reports election poll in which Granholm has fallen behind.
Michigan normally leans to Democrats, and incumbents usually have a big advantage when seeking re-election, but the states economy continues to drag down this particular Democratic incumbent. Thirty percent (30%) of the states workers are worried about losing their job. Thats far higher than concern measured in any other state.

How did this poll get out? Will have to get Cynthia McKinney's attorneys on this one....
This is great news. Maybe after the election, Jennifer Graham can appear on game shows.
One can only hope that "Dangerously Incompetent" Debbie Stabenow gets pulled under.
Now if only we can toss out StabMeNow too, we could call MI a red state.
So much for the media's darling Grenholm, the "rising star of the Democratic party who'd be a sure presidential contender if she hadn't been born in Canada" they said gushingly about her at the time of her election. Of course that prompted calls for the constitution to be amended to allow her to run, calls the media all but went silence on when it appeared such an amendment might benefit Schwarzenegger more than it would their dear Jenny.
Good point. With the primary next Tuesday, another positive developement would be for RINO Congressman John Schwarz to be defeated in the GOP primary.
The conservatives are slowly but steadily fleeing the state, but will enough leave by November to save Granholm's butt?
We are working hard to replace them both. We'll have a better handle on who we are supporting for Senator after next weeks primary.
Time to get the canadian socialist feminazi out of the governors chair..........
stab-me-now........or stab-in-cow.........either way, it has got to go
I'm getting daily 8.5" x 11" 4-color flyers from the campaign. Today received two different ones, first attacked Schwarz as a tax/spend LIBERAL who voted for such things as tax-subsidized Viagra, Trans-gendered Street Theare, and the infamous Alaskan 'bridge to nowhere.'
The other one went after him on raising taxes, particularly on the marriage penalty.
Walberg is not holding back.
I put this on the MI state board yesterday:
Anyone catch this gem over the weekend from local MSM?
"Mich. exodus strains movers"
"Big number out, few in creates real logistics test"
Not to disparage the tireless work of DeVos and everyone on his campaign, I think the two people most responsible are Jennifer Granholm and MIDEM party chair Mark Brewer.
If we can keep them talking, especially Mark, we will be seeing the great strides Governor DeVos is making in turning the state around this time next year.
I'm still not convinced. Governor Granholm just put out her first televised ad this week, and DeVos has been hammering away at her on TV for months with very little to show for it. If polls continue to show this trend, maybe, but if I'm not mistaken both have been higher in the polls in the past than he is right now in this race--it's been back and forth for months.
I think DeVos is really hurting himself with his own campaign--his ads contain little to no substance, and he has yet to answer questions about his own plans to fix the problems in Michigan. The former may be common for political campaigns, but the later is not a great strategy in a tight race against an incumbent.
I saw a commencement address Jenny The Canuck gave once. She said she appeared on "The Dating Game" once. She went out with Tom Wopat, whose name she couldn't remember years later. She referred to him as "that guy that played Luke Duke".
