Former President Bill Clinton campaigned for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Phil Angelides Tuesday night at a $5 million fundraising dinner, giving the candidate a much-needed financial -- and morale -- boost in his race against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
``This guy's got the heart of a lion,'' Clinton told supporters inside the swanky Beverly Hilton, standing alongside Angelides and former pro basketball great Magic Johnson. ``Please stick with him. He will win this thing.''
It was during that '92 campaign that Angelides, as state party chairman, rallied support for Clinton and endorsed him -- even before the primary -- and hosted a fundraiser at his Sacramento home.
Angelides ... received fundraising help from Clinton's wife, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, at a $1,000-a-person appearance July 7 in San Francisco, which was attended by more than 100 people.

One would think that anyone to the right of Marx would crawl to the voting booth, if necessary, to defeat Angelides -- and the way to defeat him is to get out and vote for Arnold.
Angelides IS counting on the discontented Republicans to win in CA.
""Angelides ... must win 80% of the Dems and a solid majority of the DTS (declined to state) registrants, TO ACCOMPANY THE 15% REPUBLICANS WHO DON'T VOTE FOR THEIR PARTY'S TICKET"
ANGELIDES IS COUNTING ON THEM.
Angelides would equal or exceed Gray Davis in corruption, graft, taxation, extortion, fraud, just to name a few. This ultra-leftist creep must be beaten. Ah-nold will get my vote -- if only to keep this Marxist out of the governor's mansion.
Too...many...jokes........brain....overload...
At first glance I thought this title was, "Clinton stares at Angelina"
"I met Angelides waaaay back in 1991 and knew he was a certifiable wack job immediately. "
Dosn't matter to some here - There are few freepers actually calling for the defeat of Arnold in November.
amazing ....
Because here in California, things are already going soooo well.

And when he gets home, here's his reality.

(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em Down Hezbullies.)
The Clintons are tickled that Arnold is trying to turn the GOP into a homo-loving, baby killing, enviro whacko party. Of course they would prefer Angelides, but they win either way in this election.
How much is Slick Willard sucking out of the Demo Party for his endorsements, speeches?????
``This guy's got the heart of a lion,''
And the personality of a slug. And Bill's got the morals of an alley cat.
"Arnold is trying to turn the GOP into a homo-loving, baby killing, enviro whacko party. "

I find it pathetic that you are an Official Republican Representative, according to you, and you post disgusting UNTRUE drivel as above. For shame.
But I am sure Angelides wishes there are more "Republicans" like you.
Pathetic -- there is no other word.
I'm a party member, not an "Official Republican Representative" and I feel strongly about our party's platform which the Governor flaunts on a weekly basis.
I haven't said anything untrue.
You'll be glad to know though that there are party members who think like you and want to embrace Democrat policies under the name "Republican". They fought Ronald Reagan tooth and nail. I've been at war with them for 18 years now. You and their ilk are the anomaly, not me.
In a previous post you said you are some representative, not just an "ordinary Republican" and as part of that you are not allowed to attack Republicans -- you don't seem to be keeping your promise too well, the way you are propagandizing FOR Angelides.
Speaking of Reagan, looks like the people he had trouble with were the uncompromising "conservatives".

Ronald Reagan on the importance of political compromise(in his own words)
An American Life (his autobiography) | 8/7/03 | Ronald Reagan
"When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it.
"Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.
"I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'
"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.
