Why is this such a big story?

Leave the guy alone, he was drunk. Drinking and driving are against the law..shooting off your mouth isn't. Geez!

Who are WE to forgive him his indiscretion? Its not like he was overseas badmouthing the Country or something..

This doesn't belong in the Announcements sidebar, either. Once again, please quit abusing FR's sidebars.

I've never heard conservatives get drunk and talk about loving liberalism. His father doesn't help matters.

I was wondering the same thing.

He was drunk. Said stupid things as most drunks do ... but he's sort of conservative - so that must be the reason.

I bet few souls on FR haven't been drunk ... and said or done RIDICULOUS things. Hope they dole out the same measure of disdain for themselves - or is it easier to just crucify others.

Give the guy some SLACK!!!

Geesh!

Guilty as Charged! I'd hate to be in the public eye...on several occasions

NEVER FORGET

The one word uttered in MEL's DUI tirade that's been missing in all the resultant media and internet coverage is the word...

.."WARS."

MEL has been watching the same thing on TV the last 3 weeks we all have,

...Isreal's using a WAR into Lebanon to better protect itself in the future, which would be a positive outcome of ..a WAR.

MEL also see's a President BUSH who is supporting what Isreal is doing to better protect itself ..through a WAR.

MEL's father took him to be raised in Australia during MEL's youth to get away from the U.S. Military Draft during the Vietnam WAR. Resulting in MEL's lifelong ambivalence ...about WAR.

MEL now deeply disagress with what BUSH and Isreal are doing to change the landscape of the Middle East by making it Free. (Ironic, isn't it, for a "BRAVEHEART" Creator?)

Thus ..MEL has been very frustated with the one man in this world who could stop all this WAR business but still refuses to do so, President BUSH. So much so that he called BUSH a "GANGHIS KHAN" a week or so ago..!!! Remember..???

So ..once MEL addresses his lifelong ambivalence about WAR,

...an BIG alcholic trigger will have left him forever, I feel.

MEL did a masterful job in depicting my Vietnam Commanding Officer, then Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE, in RANDALL WALLACE's outstanding "WE WERE SOLDIERS" Motion Picture. In his TV Interviews about the film MEL praised the leadership of the victorious in WAR Military Commander he portrayed in the 1st Major Battle of the Vietnam War, in the Valley of Death known as the IA DRANG Valley of November 1965.

But when then asked about his feelings about WAR in general, MEL's ambivalence about it started coming through ..delivering a much different message to us listeners than did "WE WERE SOLDIERS."

I believe that MEL's deep frustration coming from his not being able to do anything about what's going on out there in this world in this new time of war...

...fueled his Alcholic anger last Thursday night and everything else.

Sometimes WAR is a GOOD thing, as I witnessed in person in the "WE WERE SOLDIERS" Battle of the IA DRANG-1965.

And it has been my direct experience since that the one thing the LOVE Itself needs more of in this world,

...for GOD is LOVE,

is more LOVE.

And that only comes when people are FREE..!!

NEVER FORGET, please, that our heroic Freedom Fighting Soldiers are therefore putting a broad smile on GOD's Face with their daily selfless sacrifices.

Not at all unlike the Sacrifices so respectfully depicted in MEL's...

.."The PASSION of the Christ"..

perhaps..??

Could I please ask you to pass on my Post No. 9 of this MEL Thread onto to The JEDI JESSE Lee Peterson for passing onto his friend GIBSON..?

Like The JEDI JESSE so brilliantly stated last night on KABC Radio, one feels so much better when they forgive someone.

All MEL needs are the tools to forgive himself with, perhaps..?

IMO, Mel Gibson's first priority is his wealth and, secondly his celebrity status/ego, his moral fiber comes in last as it does with the majority of Hollywood-types. The majority of Hollywood elites have "NO" moral fiber or respect for American heritage or America's future. It's all about "ME" for them.
