Democratic U.S. Sen. candidate Jim Webb said today that money is perverting the American political process.

Sitting with five Richmond area Democrats at a West End home, Webb said the need for campaign money has been the biggest surprise of his campaign for the U.S. Senate.

Webb hasn't figured out that Reid, Schumer, et.al., were only interested in him as a surrogate to attack the President on Iraq because they couldn't. They counted on Webb to be a one-issue candidate and he obliged.

They'll throw him some cash to keep him in the race as long as he talks their talk, but I'll bet they've written him off already.
