A Marine Corps staff sergeant who led the squad accused of killing two dozen civilians in Haditha, Iraq, will file a lawsuit today in federal court in Washington claiming that Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) defamed him when the congressman made public comments about the incident earlier this year.
Attorneys for Frank D. Wuterich, 26, argue in court papers that Murtha tarnished the Marine's reputation by telling news organizations in May that the Marine unit cracked after a roadside bomb killed one of its members and that the troops "killed innocent civilians in cold blood." Murtha also said repeatedly that the incident was covered up. (snipped)

It's real. It was on a highway outside of Atlanta, GA.
OMGosh! I didn't know.....prayers up for the fantastic Zac's Mom!
And, so do I!
It also shows that Marines, like Sgt. Wuterich, manage to stay strong in situations that would crumble weaker beings.
Hang in there, Sgt. Wuterich. You have much support among the American people.

I think we need some more popcorn.
I'm doing my level best to remain civil in a public forum.
My comments were in the context of a response to a query of how a current member of the military can sue a sitting Congressman.
Forgive me if my comments appear to be understated, but I'm well aware that this forum is monitored by others and have no intention of saying anything that can be twisted to give "aid and comfort" to that - sometimes there are no words good enough. :)
I will say that I don't consider $75,000 to be anywhere near enough money. ;)
This is the only way to stop people like Murtha from their spewing of lies...
Amen, Marine Dad.
I agree with your $75,000. comment as well.
EXACTLY! Sad but very true.
BTTT
ROTFLMBO!!!
"I was not chastising you."
Understood :) Just felt it would help if I clarified a bit.
Make no mistake folks, FR is a powerful catalyst, along with other sites on the internet. :) "They" are watching us and we do have an impact. ;)
Geez, even the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat finally had to address the reality of the situation in the Sunday paper editorial:
"...The technology that allows for blogs, Web forums and e-mail lists has also given many people a voice in politics that might not be otherwise available.
You can speak your mind and even have an impact on high-level political decisions - if enough people agree with you.
It is First Amendment rights in the modern age. And we are all better for having the right to freely exchange our opinions - 'extreme' or otherwise.
A free society can be that way because we are not told what to think. We can hear or read various viewpoints and make our own decisions. And be critical of our leaders.
Even at the click of a mouse."
Diana Irey understands this. At least *someone* at the Trib "gets it". Robert Gleason(head of the state GOP) is the current recepient of the "hard lesson", but one can tell that he doesn't quite "get it". John Murtha, being of my parent's generation doesn't have a clue that times have changed. ;)
Of course, "lag time" being what it is, there was no mention of the lawsuit in today's Trib. It will be interesting to see how soon they print it. ;)
Yes it is, yes they are and yes we do!!! ;*)

WooHoo! About time I may add. It is time for the bloviating CONgress critters to realize they are supposed to work FOR us not AGAINST us!
It will be interesting to see how soon they print it.
Indeed! Please post it when it comes out. ;*)
Missed your ping last night. Heard this on radio this A.M. and received in e-mail too. Great News!!
Thanks, Julie. Maybe Murtha will get an inkling of the Marines mottos now.
I don't expect this to lead evening news though.
Besides being a great bumper sticker, these would be great to hand out when the rats gather to spew their treason and sedition and dare to call it patriotism.
