CENTENNIAL — A Saudi woman was sentenced to two months in state jail Tuesday for theft after essentially stealing the services of an Indonesian woman whom prosecutors said was held as a virtual slave for four years.
Sarah Khonaizan, 35, also was ordered to pay $90,000 in restitution and ordered not to have any contact with the 24-year-old woman. The judge credited her for 15 days of jail time already served.
Last week, a federal judge sentenced her to five years of probation and ordered to pay $26,275 in restitution after pleading guilty to harboring an illegal immigrant.
Her attorney, Forrest Lewis, has said she wants to return to Saudi Arabia and will not fight deportation, which he expects to occur after her state sentence is completed.
Prosecutors and FBI agents accused Khonaizan and her husband, Homaidan Al-Turki, 37, both Saudi citizens, of hiding the woman’s passport and forcing her to care for their five children and cook and clean for the family in their suburban Aurora home for four years.
She slept on a mattress on the basement floor and was paid less than $2 a day, according to prosecution testimony during Khonaizan’s state trial.
Al-Turki was convicted by a state jury in June of 12 counts of unlawful sexual contact by use of force, threats or intimidation; false imprisonment; conspiracy to commit false imprisonment; criminal extortion; and theft. He faces eight years to life in prison for each of the sexual contact counts when he is sentenced Aug. 31.
Al-Turki also faces an October federal trial on charges of forced labor, document servitude and harboring an illegal immigrant. In April, he and Khonaizan agreed to pay the nanny about $64,000 in wages to settle a Labor Department lawsuit.
Al-Turki, a linguist, worked at a Denver publishing and translating company and was a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado.

Hold a woman prisoner, physically and sexually abuse her, make her sleep on a matress in the basement for 4 years; and get a whopping 2 month sentence?!?! If they had simply killed her, I wonder if they could have gotten off with just probation?
If, however they had been drinking and made some off-color remarks against Jews; then they would likely get the book thrown at them.
I'm surprised the sentence for 4 years of slavery is only 2 months.

A Denver newscast reported that the scumbag Saudi woman's husband had repeatedly raped the kidnapped woman. I want all Muslims OUT of my State, make that, Country! Islam is a religion of what, peace, yeah, right!

Thanks for posting this. I didn't know it was pending. I'm so glad her husband is going to spend some time in the big house. I hope that the other prisoners teach him the fundamentals of unlawful sexual contact.
Most of all, I hope our State Dept. doesn't give them a pass right out of the country.
