The wife and father of kidnapped Israeli soldier Ehud Goldwasser, Karnit, holding a wedding photograph, and Shlomo Goldwasser arrive at Heathrow Airport in London, Monday July 31, 2006. Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers on July 12, triggering an Israeli offensive against Lebanon that has killed hundreds of people, mostly civilians.
Palestinians: Nasrallah, bomb Tel Aviv
(VIDEO) Palestinian protesters in Ramallah urge Hizbullah to fire missiles on central Israel; former Palestinian interior minister calls on Fatah fighters to go on high alert ahead of possibility of escalation in fighting

RAMALLAH - VIDEO - About 1,500 Palestinians demonstrated in Ramallah Tuesday to slam ongoing IDF operations in Lebanon and particularly what protesters characterized as the "second Qana massacre."
A similar rally was held in the West Bank town of Nablus.
The demonstrators held up Lebanese and Hizbullah flags, as well as photographs of Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah , and called on him to bomb Tel Aviv. The Palestinian protesters also called on the international community to impose an economic, cultural, and political boycott on Israel.
Participants in the rally also criticized the United States and urged the continuation of armed resistance to the Americans in Iraq. During the protest, both the Israeli and American flags were set ablaze.
The rally was organized by all Palestinian organizations in Ramallah, headed by Fatah, which is particularly powerful in the city. Senior Fatah member and former Interior Minister Hani al-Hassan surprised those in attendance by announcing the group ordered its fighters to be on high alert "ahead of the possibility of escalation of the conflict in Lebanon, which could manifest itself in an escalation of Israeli actions in the Territories."
"I know what I'm talking about and I know what I'm referring to," al-Hassan told the crowd.
Tuesday's protest was relatively small compared to earlier ones in Ramallah and particularly the one held during US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's visit to the region. Rally organizers noted that the Palestinians, just like other Arabs, are disappointed by the international apathy in the face of the ongoing killings.
However, the organizers admitted that the paucity of Hizbullah accomplishments put a damper on the masses' enthusiasm.
'Neighbors celebrated missile attack on Afula'
A Jenin journalist who works in Ramallah said that support for Nasrallah and Hizbullah is overwhelming and encompasses the whole of Palestinian society. No official or senior figure in the Palestinian Authority would dare publicly criticize the Lebanese group, he said, but noted that privately some Palestinians are unimpressed with Nasrallah's group. The journalist added that his neighbors in Jenin were celebrating over news that a Hizbullah rocket hit the town of Afula, the deepest point hit by Hizbullah thus far.
Meanwhile, one Fatah activist said that the protest was proof that the entire organization is united in its support of Hizbullah. According to the activist, identified only as Ravia, talk in Israel about moderate Palestinians fearing a Hizbullah victory are a "media spin."
"There may be one or two opportunists who are expressing their dissatisfaction with Hizbullah's activity, but a document distributed by Hani al-Hassan attests to the importance of the victory for the Palestinian question."

Thank you, Karl.
I'd be going nuts without this thread. ;-)
I've got the strong feeling that George Bush is really standing at the precipice of history. If he blinks, Israel gets erased off the map, and the West will fall.
If he holds strong, along with Blair, Howard and Merckle, backing Olmert, the future could be much brighter for the entire world.
Pinnz
from me.
Great map - except Damascus as shown is north of its actual location - it's at approximately the latitude of Sidon, not Beirut ;^).
POTUS don't blink...Looks ya straight in the eye and means what he says...
As one at the tail end of the baby boom generation, I will say this. The difference between my proceeding and preceeding generation is like night and day. Fortunately, my generation can remember the prior one. Unfortunately, the younger generation never new them. I am ashamed of my own generation. In the past 40 years, each new generation has become more lazy and more entitled. This younger generation is about to have a wakeup call.
Those of you PO'd at the pubbies and thinking about voting Dem in the next election best think twice. The world today is bearing the fruit of our last three dem presidents IMO.
Bush is not motivated by polls, and he's not up for reelection. I would be totally shocked if he blinked, because that meant there was something so bad going on behind the scenes that he thought that it would mean something incredibly horrible would happen if he didn't.
What are our biggest problems? North Korea (Carter AND CLinton), Iran (Carter) and Gaza and the West Bank (Clinton). Add to that the rise of Chavez, the Chinese in the Panama Canal (Carter and Clinton) and you get the general picture.
The democrats cannot be allowed back in power until the current generation has passed from the scene.

I'm getting "access denied" for those images ;^)
The last 3 Dem Presidents you referenced were:
Lyndon Johnson
Jimmy Carter
Bill Clinton
Enough said.
EXCEPT that losing the Congress would be beyond horrific.
Me too, NOW. They were just working a few moments ago.
Many people in modern time do not understand that Edom is part of modern day Jordan. It is one reason I beleive it is critical that Biblical history be taught to our children. But the schools won't do it and our churches are failing at it.

MK Barakeh: Jewish entry to Temple Mount to cause clashes
Chairman of the Hadash Knesset faction, MK Mohammad Barakeh, attacked the High Court of Justice's decision to allow members of the Jewish group Temple Mount Faithful to visit the Temple Mount in honor of the Jewish holiday of Tisha b'Av.
According to him, "The High Court's decision to allow an extreme Jewish group to visit the Temple Mount is a dangerous decision arrived at in the shadow of the war that Israel is waging on two peoples - Lebanese and Palestinian. This type of decision is fuel in the hands of pyromaniacs and could lead to additional clashes." (Roee Nahmias)

This will be something to watch for.
17:47 Ramon: IAF to resume full airstrikes in Lebanon once 48-hour suspension over (Ch. 10)
17:39 Ahmadinejad rejects UN resolution giving Iran until Aug. 31 to halt enrichment (AP)
Your RIGHT about THAT! (Glad I didn't make that map!)
Ahmadinejad is calculating this war with Israel will take the heat off Iran and nukes. I see it differently- watching this play out shows all the MORE reason they must never, never have nukes.
If "Itler" (the Iranian Hitler) rejects the resolution now, can they move up the vote on the sanctions against Iran?
"this war with Israel will take the heat off Iran and nukes. I see it differently"
I believe that you are 100% right about this. But I think that the intentions were multifaceted. I believe that I'm-A-Nut-Job also thought that he could simultaneously put Israel in bad state of affairs...making himself look like a hero in the muslim world.
