I go more for the Bush "strategery" angle. The world is now littered with Dems and others who woo the day they misunderstimated Bush because they didn't pay attention. World opionion ran off in one completely wrong direction while GWB was getting his ducks in a row. What some saw as Condi's inconsistent behavior, I suspected was a decoy, a classic delaying tactic.

When will they learn that GWB doesn't give a fig what they say about him? He keeps his eye on the prize. He saw the "opportunity" side of this while everyone else was yelling "ceasefire!".

I think there is confusion in this report between holding ground in the South which Israel is intending to do until international forces arrive, and holding ground in Baalabek which does not make any sense from military point of view.

Unless they found something very dangerous. Like perhaps a Nuke or really nasty chem/bio weapon. That might explain why Tony Blair, the Germans, and now Arab Governments are falling into line. Somebody found something. And now we know where they found it.

I'm still convinced he started out this war a pu$$y

If you go back and read my posts, you will find that I have been predicting exactly what would happen. I even told posters why it was going to happen.

The problems with attacking any Guerrilla force is they can melt into the civilian population and uniformed troops are left at a terrible disadvantage. The IRAQI problem compounded. There is no way the Israel prime minister could not be aware of this huge problem.

The first question the Israelis had to answer was how do we separate the Hezbollah from the civilians. The first attempt was to issue warnings and drop fliers telling civilians to get out. When that didn't work they had to depend on Hezbollah being stupid enough to accuse Israel of killing innocent GASP civilians. Did it occur to you to ask why ISRAEL immediately took the BLAME FOR KILLING GASP civilians? The object was to first apologize and then give them two days to get the civilians out of Southern Lebanon.

Once that was done. It was just a matter of committing the troops and announcing the goal of taking and holding Southern Lebanon.

What I don't understand is how anyone could look at the scene unfolding and not figure it out. It was as plain as night and day.

jhp.. I take it you are still in the Dark.

Mel Gibson is all over the news...non-stop. But a Muzzie kills a Jewish woman and shoots 6 others and this doesn't rate a mention. Sometimes, all I can do is shake my head.

I don't think you were wrong to report it. And for all we know, it could be right.

Fog of war happens with all of this. Cowan says the Israelis won't have any trouble taking and holding Baalbeck. (Which is a creepy name because it reminds me of the god Baal and all of that Old Testament stuff.
