Ben Stein is correct: we simply have to kill them ALL if civilization as we know is going to survive. If we can't stomach the kind of blood-letting it will take to preserve our freedoms and our sovereignty, we assuredly will not get to keep it for future generations. Stein has explained in a blunt way the stakes involved for the future of Israel and the West.

Antisemitic bias is MSM standard operating procedure. I try to relate it to say Mexico or Canada lobing missiles into our country and how the MSM would react. Hmmm...probably the same way as with the hezzies launching missiles into Israel.

There are two battlefields.

The real one, and the virtual battlefield.

Terrorists cannot be victorious on a real battlefield against a real military.

They cannot take ground, they cannot defend ground, they cannot achieve a military victory, tactical victory, nor even a win strategic positioning.

The only thing a terrorist can do is kill.

They rely completely upon the virtual battlefield to win against any opponent: It's a Propaganda War.

KNOWING that there *IS* a Propaganda War is the first step in defeating terrorists. KNOWING that the Propaganda War is real, and is the only chance for a victory against the US, almost, all by itself, destroys any chance of victory against the US.

Let everybody know that this war, like most of the wars the US has fought since World War II relies upon the Propaganda War more heavily than any battlefield's results.

You cannot fight inhumane people with humane means.

Great article. Give back what they dish out and let them deal with the consequences. If they whine and complain, too bad; they're only getting what they have no problem giving.

re :Because it is impossible to beat a terrorist movement without using terror tactics.

LOL political pundits like this would make me laugh if it wasn't that they try to influence people to fight the war in a way that does more damage to us

"You cannot fight inhumane people with humane means. You cannot fight savages with one hand -- no, two hands -- tied behind your back. No wars were ever won using restraint and only civilized means. That's a formula for complete defeat and for the end of civilized life."

Bump

The simple reason is most people in the west do not believe we are at war.

When that fact is finally driven home by a major western city going up in smoke I think things will change. People will then actually fear for their lives and demand something be done it about with extreme prejudice.

Sadly not before.

I find it unbelievable that the points made in Stein's fine article aren't bleedingly freaking obvious to any sane person (and even some liberals).

Backing down in a fight like this hasn't done any good in the past; yet we continue to back down thinking the results will be different. All to create the impression that we're "better than the enemy". All because of what Other People will think (hint: there's no "thinking" involved). Let them think (feeeeeeeel) what they want!

It's time we use our power to eliminate the enemy and stop dragging this out. It's not getting any better. When the freaks declared war on us on 9/11 that was pretty much it for me. This has to stop!

From the tail end of the article:
If we allow our media and French intellectuals to prevent us and the Israelis from using the means necessary to win, we'll lose...in Lebanon, in Iraq, and everywhere and this civilization is very well worth preserving. Yes, as sad as it would be to use terror tactics to win a war, it would be incomparably worse to lose. At the end of the war we win, there is light. At the end of the war we lose, there is the end.

Gotta love Ben!

Good article.

After trying to watch the news on TV yesterday (and getting tired of hearing my husband and myself yelling at the TV screen)...here's the conclusion I've come to.

There are "voices of reason" in the written media, Stein being one of them, and there are many others.

There are "voices of reason" on the radio.

However, TV, even Fox, is sorely lacking in perspective. The only person on TV who is "telling it like it is" on the WOT and the Israeli/hezbollah conflict is Glenn Beck. Apart from him, Krauthammer has good things to say, but he's only on occasionally.

I'm tuning out TV news for the most part, or else I may have to go on blood pressure meds, LOL.

Within hours of Pearl Harbor the U.S. began unrestricted submarine warfare against the Axis. Those we the same tactics we considered inhumane earlier. In October of 2001 the American public would have supported nuking Al Qaida if we could get them in all in one place. Now we're arguing over which kind of trials they should get. Now we're arguing if the Executive branch should have to fill out an inch and half of forms before we can intercept their communications.

Ben's got it.

I wonder how long it will take for us collectively to get it?

Clauswitz, who thought more deeply about the nature and purpose of war than anyone since Sun Tzu, observed that in the long run total war is the most merciful.

Israel should be bombing Shi'ite neighborhoods and villages at the rate of one thousand pound bomb per Hezbollah rocket fired into Israel, and at the same time, continuing to exercise restraint when targetting Hezbollah positions in Christian neighborhoods.

Sadly, it's going to take a major US city being vaporized for people to do something.

But then again, I thought we would wake up after 9/11. The Islamofascists brought NYC to it's knees with boxcutters. They can't be allowed to get nukes.
