Yep. You don't need to be a coroner or even to have ever touched a corpse to be able to know after touching one of those bodies if it's been dead for an hour or dead for a day, just from the temperature. Somebody who knows what they're doing would additionally be able draw conclusions from the color of the skin and rigor mortis (as mentioned in various posts), etc.
