That would make more sense than an "8 hour delay bomb".

ok, so I am a little tired of hearing about all these innocent civilians being killed in Lebanon .. how are we to know if they are 'innocent civilians' or are, instead, Hezzi supporters and/or members?

Terrorists are noted for hiding behind women and children, and in mosques. They have no "honor" as we understand it in the West (or at least the US part of the West)

And, really, why do I care if it's a woman/child killed more than a man? Are men less valuable?

I'm finding sympathy for thes "innocent civilians" really hard to come by.

From Wikipedia on the bombing of Dresden:

Development of a German political response to the raid took several turns. Initially some of the leadership, especially Robert Ley and Joseph Goebbels, wanted to use it as a pretext for abandonment of the Geneva Conventions on the Western Front. In the end, the only political action the German government took was to EXPLOIT IT FOR PROPOGANDA PURPOSES. [34]

Goebbels INFLATED THE NUMBERS OF THE DEAD by a factor of ten, and German diplomats circulated the figures, along with photographs of the destruction, the dead, and badly burned children, in neutral countries. By coincidence, the day before the Dresden raid, a German foreign affairs paper had been circulated to neutral countries describing Arthur Harris as "the arch enemy of Europe" and a leading proponent of "Terror Bombing"[35].

On February 16 the Propaganda Ministry issued a press release which outlined the Nazi line: Dresden had no war industries, it was a place of culture and clinics[36]. On February 25 a new leaflet with photographs of two burned children was released under the title "Dresden – Massacre of Refugees" and stating that not 100,000 but 200,000 had died. Since no official estimate had yet been developed, the numbers were speculative, but foreign journals such as the Stockholm Svenska Morgonbladet used phrases like "privately from Berlin" [37]. Frederick Taylor states that "there is good reason to believe that later in March copies of — or extracts from — [an official police report] were leaked to the neutral press by Goebbels's Propaganda Ministry… doctored with an extra zero to make [the total dead from the raid] 202,040"[38]. On March 4, Das Reich, a weekly general newspaper founded by Goebbels, published a lengthy article emphasising the suffering and the destruction of a cultural icon without mentioning any damage the attacks had caused to the German war effort[39].

Taylor observes that this propaganda was quite effective, as it not only INFLUENCED ATTITUDES IN NEUTRAL COUNTRIES at the time but even reached the British House of Commons when Richard Stokes quoted information from the German Press Agency (controlled by the Propaganda Ministry). Taylor suggests that, although the destruction of Dresden would have affected people's perception of the Allies' claim to absolute moral superiority in any event, part of the outrage involves Goebbels's master stroke of propaganda [40].

Some things never change I guess...

The terrorists attack Israel from positions of cover among civilians, knowing that ths will expose the civilians to Israeli retaliation. Is it such a stretch, then, to suppose that the terrorists might have dynamited the building themselves to generate casualties and pressure against the Israelis?

All of Lebanon is a legitimate target. There are no "innocents" there. If you harbor and enable terrorists you deserve their fate.

War is hell. The civilian deaths in Kana are sad, but in war such things can not be avoided.

Israel attempts to minimize civilian casualties. Hizbullah attempts to maximize them. That is all one needs to know.

Personally, I think Israel would be better off intensifying the military campaign against Hizbullah and make less of an effort to avoid civilian casualities. The Shiite civilians in South Lebanon vote for and support Hizbullah, therefore they are responsible for every civilian casualty in this war. Civilian populations are responsible for organizations and governments they support. Quite frankly, I have very little sympathy for them.

If true that 85-percent of the Lebanonese people voted FOR Hezbolla in the latest polls, then I am OK with 85-percent of the Lebanese people being killed in this war.

Who cares? The world?

I don't think so. How many in the world even know that a there is a NEW fight between Israel and her enemies?

Leave New York and D.C. and few outside of Lebanon.

And now the point. These people are the families of the Hezbollah, or their supporters. They are pledged to the exterminatiion of Israel.

Let the War be fought in Biblical proportions until the enemy is vanquished!

I heard that the full name of the village is Kafr Kana.

The media leave out the "Kafr" bit, because apparently it means "Infidel", or un-believer.

Maybe Hezbolah were using a village full of Christians to fire their rockets from.

Also when the "police" say it wasn't safe to leave, maybe they mean the Christian civilians weren't allowed to leave, were held hostage for an atrocity so to speak.

Deja vu?

"In April 1995, the IDF mounted “Operation Grapes of Wrath” to halt Hizballah's bombardment of Israel's northern frontier. During the operation, Israeli artillery mistakenly hit a UN base in Kafr Kana, killing nearly 100 civilians. Afterward, a Joint Monitoring Machinery, including American, French, Syrian and Lebanese representatives, was created to prohibit unprovoked attacks on civilian populations and the use of civilians as shields for terrorist activities."

From 1995?

"Given that UNIFIL knew that Hizbullah had established itself a short distance away from their base and firing Katyushas into Israel, while the base itself was harboring refugees, did UNIFIL have a responsibility itself to notify Israel: a] of the Hizbullah emplacement close by? b] not to respond with fire because of the refugees being sheltered on the base?"

Could one of their own rockets have detonated there? They pack a wallop, especially the longer range ones.

When I watched the video earlier today, I was wondering if the Hezzies couldn't have caused the explosion themselves since it looked as if the rockets they were firing, were going right across the top of the building that was allegedly destroyed.

If Hezbollah and the Lebanese government would acknowledge Israel's Right to Exist, none of this need happen.

I'm sure an investigation will show Israel did NOT hit the building with civilians inside. Moreover, whatever caused it to collapse was not due to something Israel did. No matter; the world rushed to condemn Israel before all the facts got known. Any one with an objective mind would know Israel would never deliberately strike civilians. But the world had already made up its mind and passed sentence upon the Jewish State.
