Israeli combat soldiers walk along the Israeli northern border with Lebanon. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is pursuing a new round of Middle East diplomacy as the Lebanon conflict moved into its 19th day, with Israel and Hezbollah exchanging firepower and threats in defiance of international moves toward a ceasefire

I cannot believe how easily people are stampeded by the news. For goodness sake, this isn't a cease fire, as you said.

Plus, a lot of people need to remember that WE DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING GOING ON.

I wish people would calm down.

Expect some surprises for tomorrow, this is not the end.

It is if Hizbullah wants it to be. This is the last stop on the Hizbullah train, if they don't get off at this stop they are done. If Hizbullah stops firing the Israelis will be immolated by the world if they keep on going. Will Hizbullah stop? . . . tune in tomorrow

I think it best to wait and watch (but try not to LISTEN to the MSM--who contrary to popular opinion, know jack about Military strategy) ;-)

LOL! Too much emotionalism bubbling up, which is counter-productive. With 83% of Israelis supporting their war, Bush demanding Hezbollah disarm, and the US getting ready to veto that resolution condemning Israel, I see no need to panic.

We are in a very long war, and are, in fact, only at the beginning. Folks need to square their shoulders, take a deep breath, and prepare to march forward for years. This war may not end in my lifetime. We can win it, but we have to remain steadfast and not go off on our leaders every time we don't understand what's going on. I would remind people that those guys on the beaches of Normandy didn't know the big picture, and in fact probably thought they were in the middle of a disaster. But doing their duty, they pressed forward.

As you can tell, RDTF, I am sick of the constant carping and criticism of Condi, Bush, Omert, the IDF, and anyone else fighting Hezbollah. It's time for people to suck it up and exhibit a little patience!!

>". . . . grip.

"The reason given was to allow for an investigation of the Israeli airstrike in the Lebanese village of Qana. We assume this is also intended to permit humanitarian assistance and the extraction of civilians to proceed. No mention was made of a halt to ground operations, but it was said Israel reserves the right to strike to suppress rocket fire into Israel. That means that unless Hezbollah also suspends rocket operations, Israel will continue its strikes.

It also leaves open the possibility that Israeli aircraft will be permitted to come to support Israeli ground forces that come under attack. If the cease-fire does not halt ground operations and does permit airstrikes against forces attacking Israel, and if Hezbollah does not halt rocket attacks, the announcement means relatively little. If Hezbollah does halt rocket attacks and ground attacks, it will have created a 48-hour cease-fire in the air that Israel will have to deliberately break to resume the war.

The Israeli air force has been operating intensely for almost three weeks and clearly can use a 48-hour stand down." . . . . - Stratfor

UN council agrees on statement deploring Qana raid

UN Security Council members reached agreement on Sunday on a statement expressing the 15-nation body's "extreme shock and distress" at the deadly Israeli shelling of the Lebanese village of Qana.

The statement, to be brought to a vote soon, "strongly deplores this loss of innocent lives" in Qana but does not call for an immediate truce, as requested by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan but opposed by the United States. (Reuters)

I don't believe in coincidences either. but this one worked, partially anyway.

Hezzy gets two days to re-arm, but at the same time, if this was planned by Hezbollah to bring Iran in, or by Iran itself to create the casus belli they need to attack brother Muslim nations, shutting down the war for a couple days is probably cheaper, in blood, than a wider war with Syria and Iran involved.
