Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are ASEAN member states.
Papua New Guinea has ASEAN observer status and East Timor is seeking it. Pakistan has ASEAN Regional Forum observer status.
Mottaki left Malaysia for Tehran on Friday night.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Friday the UN Security Council has so far failed to fulfilled its main duty in supporting the Palestinian and Lebanese people in the face of Zionist regime's brutal attacks.
The Security Council failed because a hegemonic power is dominating over it, he told reporters at a press conference.
"The UNSC was unable even to establish a ceasefire in the region.
We believe all these shortcomings stem from the domination of a hegemonic power over the Security Council, which dictates its will to others."
Mottaki was talking to reporters after five foreign ministers of the group of Eight Developing Islamic countries -- Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Indonesia and Iran-- issued a statement on the ongoing developments in the Middle East in general, in Lebanon in particular.
Foreign ministers of Group Five, in their statement, expressed their deep concern over deterioration of situation and escalation of tension in the occupied Palestinian lands and Lebanon.
Mottaki said, "We expect the Security Council to recognize the Zionist regime as responsible for all the crimes and damage committed in Lebanon and Palestine and put in force an immediate ceasefire." He added Iran's stance is based on full cooperation with the international community to settle the crisis in Lebanon. However, he said, "A collective will is needed to materialize this goal." "Islamic states will do their utmost to resolve the case.
Iran, as a member of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), will do its best to help settle the dispute in Lebanon with all its power." Asked about the outcome of his talks with foreign ministers attending the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum (ARF), he said in a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Li haoxing, they discussed overall bilateral relations.
The sides also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and Iran's nuclear case, he said.
In a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Khurshid Kasuri, the sides discussed the gas pipeline project and its technical aspects.
In a meeting with Japanese foreign minister, Taro Aso, they exchanged views on bilateral relations, international developments, Lebanon war and Iran's nuclear program.

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- An Iranian Parliament member said that compromise between Muslims and Zionist regime is now an entirely dismissed case, adding that the countdown has now started for the end of Zionism.
Speaking to FNA, representative of Tabriz at the Islamic Consultative Assembly Eshrat Shayeq said that suppression of the enemies of the Zionist regime is the actual goal pursued by the United States in implementing the so-called New Middle-East Plan.
"Once this is done, the aggressor regime of Tel Aviv can achieve the opportunity required for the strengthening of its economy and thus becoming the superior economic power of the region and impose whatever it could not dictate to the regional nations through its military might," she reminded.
The member of the Parliament's Article 90 Commission said that the greatest achievement of the Lebanese Hezbollah has been putting an end to the image the Zionist regime has always attempted to portray of itself as an invincible power.
She further added, "Vulnerability of the Zionist regime in fighting wars of attrition and Israelis' concern over their death tolls have been proved, and these would certainly leave deep impacts on the future politics of the region."
Noting the supports rendered to the Lebanese resistance by the regional nations, the MP said that fighting Israel is now considered as Jihad ? i.e. one of the main principles and pillars of the Muslims' Islamic beliefs which means sacred defense against the enemies ? while compromise is viewed as the biggest treason.
Shayeq further pointed out that the more crimes and aggressions the Israeli regime commits, the more decisive regional nations will grow to eradicate this cancerous tumor, "and in fact, it could be said that the countdown has just started for an end to Zionism."
My armchair status has me baffled by Israel's strategy. I pray for their victory and safety.

I'm sorry. I didn't see this question until this morning. The EC is the Expedience Council. It is the mediating body in the Iranian parliament for disputes between the reformists and the hardliners (Guardian Council).
This could mean:
1. They've cleaned it out and are moving on.
2. They can't control it and Hezbollah is still in charge.

this guy thinks (as do other Olmert sympathizers) that this is some brilliantly concocted strategy to draw all the Hizbullah out of their hideyholes in southern lebanon for a big fight at Bent Jbail where enough Hizbullah will be killed so the international force and lebanese army can later come in and retake southern lebanon. Me thinks not. Hizbullah is sitting in Trye and the countless other villages in southern lebanon south of the litani waiting for an IDF that may not come. Taking the city of Bent Jbail and totally controlling it will not solve the problem. I have seen no evidence to suggest Hizbullah is coming out of thier holes in other locations outside of Bent Jbail to fight.

Drives us all batty...especially as we start second guessing and analyzing and looking at things we as individuals have absolutely no control over....we cna have some impact on the decisions of our elected leaders maybe, and we can help those in need, and we can pray, but pretty much beyond that, all we can do is watch, hurrah, whine and gripe - and wish we knew or could influence what's going on in the minds of those who actually make the decisions.
Thus spectatorship doth make batty of us all...
