Air America Continues Ratings Slide
News Busters ^ | July 28, 2006 | Matthew Sheffield

Posted on 07/28/2006 1:19:40 PM PDT by new yorker 77

After being plugged relentlessly by the New York Times and other "objective" media outlets, the ratings for Air America continue to drop. Brian Maloney has the details:

Like an ice cream cone left in the hot July sun, Air America Radio's ratings are melting in some key (read: liberal) regions of the country.

Based on fresh ratings data released Thursday evening, the "progressive" radio network has lost strength in three cities where it had previously found the most listener support: Portland, Seattle and Denver.

Representing the spring 2006 Arbitron reporting period, these results provide one of the two most important report cards for the entire year.

Bush is dumb. It is Bush's fault. Bush is dumb.

When your programming amounts to that. You only have to listen once.

I was banished to the garage, by my three pack a day wife, for smoking Latakia. I was forced to watch CommieNN crossfire, that was as far up the channel the TV in the garage could get. Tucker and Novak would make quiet competent observations, and Begala and Carville would holler Bush is dumb. And, that Georgetown audience would howl with approval. Not to mention poor Bill Siedman, he must have polled his two cheeks to come up with the whoppers he was pedaling.

I listened to Air-America once. I learned that Barbara Bush was a lush. All they could talk about was how George W. had the look of fetal alcohol syndrome.

I've tried it for a few minutes a couple of times and, politics completely aside, it is just impossible to listen to. In the dictionary under "bad radio" there should be a picture of the Air America logo. I heard Jerry Springer try to make a case for gay marriage a few weeks ago. It was excruciating. Get that man to a logic class!

Not to worry, comrades. The Central Committee is working hard on this issue (harder than it's ever worked), and will soon reveal its new five year plan that will raise ratings in all Air America markets around the globe. It will be called the "New Direction" campaign. For the benefit of the masses and the greater glory of the Revolution. Move Zig, for great justice!

is a sarcasm tag really necessary?

Maybe we could get the government to sue them for name infringment and put them out of business since Air America is the candelstien contract airline of the CIA.

Air America is like Terri Schiavo: virtually brain dead and kept artificially alive.

They have advertisers? When I used to try to listen to them all they had was PSAs.

Lol! I actually assumed they went off the air since they are rarely in the news anymore. So I guess they're doing better than I thought.

I like playing my Randi Rhodes game. I tell myself I'll listen as long as she doesn't rip on Bush for anything. I usually get to listen for all of about 6.2 seconds.

My secretary, a big AirAMerika lover, has for years told me how horrible and hateful and mean Rush was. I decised to listen to A.A. and Randi was on...

She spouted more hate in the very first five minutes than I ever herd on Rush the entire 12 years I've been listening to him COMBINED! Unreal, seriously.

They have advertisers? When I used to try to listen to them all they had was PSAs.

I interviewed the senior sales rep for WLIB in NY a few months ago. I asked her "why are you looking for a new position?" Her reply was classic: "How can you ask people to spend money for an advertisement on a radio station that nobody listens to!?"

It's really simple to understand, liberals don't need AA when they have NPR.
