I usually don't think of what women shout during bouts of passion, but I laugh when I think of Madame Noonan in this regard. It would have to have a prithee somehere...
RE your post #1, and Noonan's drivel: A word to both of you. Get over yourselves. Sheesh, what nonsense.
Since when did Peggy Noonan turn into Peggy Rooney? What a whiner!
Sounds like somebody really needs a bit more roughage in her diet...
Nope. It is small.
This is a matter to be set between two perfectly capable adults. It isn't a matter to be judged as inappropriate by someone who doesn't know one party and doesn't like the other. IMHO, of course.
[warning . . . a rant re one of my FR peeves]
A QUESTION.
= = = = = = = =
Ah, an intellectually stimulating question on FR. How fine.
Oh, wait. I don't know what it's about. Should I pause or rush along to more interesting and higher priorities.
A question.
Perhaps it's about the % of poisonous gas flowing out of Shrillery's mouth?
Maybe it's about when Israel is project to end their security efforts.
Maybe it's a curiosity about how many scales Helen Thomasss has busted compared to how many Scuba Teddy has busted.
Or, perhaps, it's about how many pinheaded traitorous Sentators can stand on the top of Scuba Teddy's martini glass while drunk.
Maybe it's about whether Ann Coulter sleeps with a teddy bear or a blowup hubby doll.
Perhaps it's about the price of tea in China or whether NK will attack Hawaii this week.
Maybe it's a totally important study about how many college students eat their boogers.
Guess I'll have to pause if I want to find out. Sure hope it's of interest.
Sigh.
WRONG. Not interesting. GRRRR. What a waste of time clueless titles are.
Would sure be nice if posters would add some [meaningful info] in brackets when posting clueless titles.
LOL, why don't all you smart guys run for office?
Chicken?
Or the way one may refer to John F. Kennedy as "Jack" Kennedy.
One should wear one's learning lightly, as Churchill did, but nevertheless have a thirst to learn. GWB's thirst is too easily slaked.
Peggy Noonan wanted a big job in the Bush administration. She didn't get it. She is ticked.
She is ticked that Bush likes Condi and dislikes her.
I have nothing deep or intellectual to offer. I just like Bush and am glad he is my president. I trust and admire him. As a good American, I hope, I would have supported Kerry, but I'm sure glad he didn't win. I like a real person and not all that phony stuff.
What is the relevance of that? If their positions were reversed I'm sure George Bush would call Condi Ms. or Miss President and she could well call him George.
Nothing will lose my respect faster than someone who introduces themselves and announces that they have a PhD.
On the left, it is much easier for a set ideology to apply with its easy ordering and formula.
On the right, conservatism has always been thought of as a set of first Principles and an aversion to the devil of ideology. The organic nature of politics is better understood.
I like the camparison that comedian made in discussing the last election.
Sure Kerrey is smart. He is chess player smart. Is he a light weight because he loves his nicknames and the one-on-one relationships it builds? I think that Peggy is missing the articulate ghost of Reagan, but then, don't we all.Bush is more a checker player smart. But you know what? In dangerous times, a checker player is what we need and the complexity of chess player thinking can be so complex you can't react and others will sense it.
Right now, I want a checker player in the White House. Those that mean to harm us will know that he will hit hard and they can't assume subtlety will aid them.
Bush will not be adjudged by history as adept. But he won't be judged as unsteady, lacking resolve or failing to see danger to our nation and face it. I also think that he will be evaluated as honest, both with the office and with the public.
It is a rare thing for a man (or woman) of clear thinking principles to work their way up the food chain to pursue high office. Bush is hardly the first to be subject to that criticism.
Your title says "A few questions" but you only seemed to ask one. A stupid one at that.
Sounds like Peggy needs a bit more "roughage" in her .....social life.
H*ll, I call her Condi and I don't even know her. More Noonan foolishness.
Noonan's point, as I understand it, concerns the president's oft demonstrated tendency to overly informalize, even in situations where formality is called for, for example, his disastrous impulse to publicly massage the shoulders of a female head of state he barely knows, or to call a high office holder in his administration, his Secretary of State, by a term of endearment, in public. Noonan is questioning whether the president's understands the uses of formality, its utility in conveying the kind of seriousness often called for when a head of state is on the world stage.
