Ann Coulter just on Cavuto being interviewed.
She wanted to "remind the viewers" that the normal election cycle is for the party in the White House to lose seats. She expects this election to be one where Republicans lose seats. She added "a lot of seats" before Neil moved on to another question.

That definitely goes into the "a picture is worth a thousand words" department. It may also be worth a modest contribution to the GOP. :)

Incidentally, why do many so-called "real" conservatives think that what this country needs is for Nancy Pelosi and the Rats to take over the House? Because they are frauds. Most are miserably unhappy whiners who love more company.
I'm glad you said that and not me. :) But I think you are on to something.

As long as you agree with Ann, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

I agree with her when I think she's right and disagree when I think she's wrong.
I just don't fit in.... :(

I agree with you, but his annual month long working vacation plays terribly. His popularity slide last year really took hold while he was clearing brush last August, while that Ohio town lost 21 reservists in one day.
I like the guy, but his leadership suffers in those instances - he should have gotten his arse down there and comforted some families. He didn't. Just an example of some of his chronic poor judgment.

I don't know. What something "looks like" no longer matters to a lot of people. Even the deficits seem to be distant abstractions.
Having to pay for gas with a credit card is not an abstraction. A bunch of illegal aliens hanging dry wall at a construction site is not an abstraction.
To quote that eminent philosopher, Mr. Warren Zevon:
Everybody's desperate trying to make ends meet
Work all day, still can't pay the price of gasoline and meat
Alas, their lives are incomplete

I agree with you, but I think public perception is always important. It complements the things you are raising, nt replaces them.
Of course he doesn't cactually take August off - it's a working vacation and I suspect his routine doesn't change much, just his geography. Still, I think it looks bad.

You're way too preoccupied with Bush actually being in Washington. He's on the job wherever he is.
And he has excellent judgment, especially when it comes to dealing with military funerals and military families. He receives any of them that want to come to the White House, out of the glare of the limelight.

I heard a nice CNBC journalist put the deficit in perspective and minimize it all at the same time today -
He said that oil and gas prices are so high that oil companies are making so much money that the extra income tax they will pay will lower the deficit by 20%.

Even if all you say in that post is true - the President has not communicated that well. But it looks like his communications team is getting on the ball.

Will that make you happy to see Republicans lose seats? You gonna vote RAT to make it happen?
To: HitmanLV
Okay, I agree.
I'm talking to a suburban chick I know a couple months back. Family pulls down middling six figures. A couple kids. All American family, okay? She drives one of those giant SUVs. "So," I ask her, "how much to fill the tank?'
She kinda groans and says, "Eighty dollars a week."
That's eighty bucks a week to pick up dry cleaning, drive the kids to soccer and grocery shop. That's $320 a month. Fine, they can afford it. Maybe they cut back on one dinner out a month to make up the difference. But to a lot of folks, that $320 is a healthy piece of change. And those people are not happy.

I agree 100%. The GOP will benefit from people like you describe generally feeling better if gas is closer to $2 than $3 a gallon in October. They will not benefit if its closer to $ 4 a gallon, though.
Wait and see.
